from what year are this seats?

Hi guys,

Tommorow i am going to go look at a pair of leather seats and was wondering if anyone knows from what year of rx-7 are they from?

The seller believes them to be 85 but is not sure.

Here is a picture.

Does anyone know for sure?

Looks like SA 79-80 seats, correct me if I'm wrong. They were redone too?

Definitely not 84-85. I always thought leather seats had separate headrests.

Are they Miata seats?

Nope they are not 79-80 seats, not sure what they came out of for certain but they are not from a 1st gen Rx7 or a 2nd gen Rx7 I know this mostly from looking at the side plastics,

Look up Celicas and Mitsubishis etc. Not a Nissan or Mazda part.

Those are the same seats that were in my SA and currently in my 82. Look at racingbeat's reupholster page and you will see the same part numbers for 79-83.

They look very much like 79-83 seats, but the side trim doesn't look like it. Headrest shape look like Miata seats.

If i buy them, will post more pictures of them, with the current condition of my leather seats, for 100$ they will definitly imrpove the interior look of my car even if they are not original.

I can't say for certain right now (not at home), but those look a lot like the 3rd gen seats I picked up last year and never installed....

Very similar shape to SA seats, but they are not; the side trim on the SA seats were the heavy stamped steel recliner brackets, with a round plastic cover over the spring. Toyed with the idea of chroming mine, at one point, which is why I remember them so clearly.

The slide handle on the bracket is wrong, too; looks more like a later-gen FB seat bracket, with the round handle; SA's had squarish handles that slid sideways. And the headrest is too rounded at the top.

Definitely not from an SA.

Ok, went to look at them today. propably wont be taking them, the driver seat is ready to tear in couple of places, the seat itself is deeper in then 1st gen seats, and not sure what it's called, but there is a place for the back passangers to put magazines in at the back of the seat.

So decided to keep the 100$ and maybe just try and restore my dirve side tear :P

red leather on a black car looks much better
