what to do dilemma

I'm in the middle of a dilemma, I own two FB's. My 13bt and a 12a car. Yesterday, I'm almost positive I blew an apex seal in the 12a car pulling into a parking lot. My car had been suffering a fuel hesitation around the time the secondarys kick in, I believe for whatever reason I starved the engine of fuel it ran lean and and pop'ed it. Not driving fast or anything, in fact I had only taken the engine up to about 4k that day and was driving easy, kinda disappointing actually I always envisioned a huge bang and lots of smoke when the engine finally let go. Not this one, it just passed on peacefully.

I have yet to do a compression check but hearing the engine around 2k I can clearly hear only 5 of the 6 faces making compression and it deffinatly hiccups about every 6th pulse. The car has no power and very hard starting so I'm almost positive the engine needs a rebuild.

I'm not planning on rebuilding it, at the moment I take 16 credits and work around 20 hours a week, add on top of that no garage to pull and rebuild the engine. Time is sparse.

I was thinki9ng about parting all the parts that are worth parting and getting some moneys back from it, but then I started thinking the car is perfectly good candidate for a rebuild and a fresh start with a new owner. I don't see rebuilding the engine as a good investment for me, it would probably cost as much as I could sell the car for once its running and give me a headache in the process.

What would you guys do if you were in my situation, and also what $$$ should I ask for the whole car as a roller. It has no rust and only one kinda big dent on near the gas filler you can kinda see in the pic. I have full fb exhaust, rb springs, sways, hp's, le wheels, replaced steering linkage, lsd rear end, good brakes, decent interior.

I would love to keep it but I have to start being more rational on what I spend my extra car funds on (the frankenstein turbo fb) and I have already let one of my cars set outside for two years and it almost rusted out and I don't wanna let that happen to my baby.

any one interested in my roller can pm, not sure if thats ok with fourm rules or not, but it would mos deff be a good car for another club member, and if you get it quick there is around 3/4 a tank of petrol left haha just filled it up the day before.

a pic for reference

Hum well you should test compression 1st before you write off the engine to get a positive ID on what's wrong. It could be intake or as simple as a rusted muffler clogged up. Other things can make a 12a loose power. If it starts and idles it's probably NOT the rotor seals. Does it smoke like Chong's motorcycle on the roses?hhehehe?

Test the shutter valve (Guide link in FAQ).

I would definately not part it out, judging by the picture of it it looks to be really clean. If you decide not to rebuild it I would say sell it as a whole.

who not buy a used 12a? you could get one for pretty cheap. with the help of some buddies you could have it in in a day, easily.

if no, dont part it. sale as a roller only. its in too good of shape to part. if you must sale, you could DD your 13bt, just be easy on that rearend. gas will kill you though. what about buying a cheap dd? civic, corolla, tercel, accord, camry, etc?

my question is, youre in the same boat i am with school and work, so how the hell did you afford that 13bt car? i know he was asking 10k for it.

looks like it will be sold as a roller like I wanted. A gentleman from Oregon is coming saturday to take her away.

Ahh the memories of my first car. It will be sad to see it go.
