very mint 1983

Well I "finally" brought my new acquisition home. This is a beautiful 1983 with 121,000 original kilometers. Paint=original, exhaust=original and perfect, windshield=perfect&original

I think it has the original stereo if any 83 purists can confirm please.

You be the judge...........................

She doesn't have a name yet. This one will be a lady since it will be kept very civil.

Plans are to keep it stock, rats nest and all for that "it looks like new" impact when I open the hood. I am however going to either install a complete monza exhaust system (from another rx7 owner if the price is right), or if I cannot get the right deal then I will just get the bonez cat delete pipe. Next I will do some minor mods to the carb and tune it accordingly. I want to preserve the unmolested factory appearance of the car, right down to the rims.

If I want to go a lot faster I'll just break out her big brother....

I have all the toys in my spare parts storage to make it go fast. RB 12a intake, light steel flywheel, another camden, 2 13b exhaust systems for a FB, etc etc....

Very very nice. The stereo looks original but I don't know what the stock stereo looks like since mine came with a partially broken rampage tape deck with a messed up Doobie Brothers tape stuck in it. lol. If you ever decide to sell those mud guards let me know.

'grats - nice FB. Presume is a GS since I don't see any headlight washers? If the radio is a Clarion then its likely stock, tho I thought the radios were never a cassette/radio combo in the 1st gen RX7s?? Glad to hear you're planning to keep her stock. 'Nother clean RX for Cowtown!

Exceptional find! Since you already have one set up for fun, why not keep this one bone stock. It would just be a "different" kind of thrill, valuable in its own right. I know things like exhaust can be changed back, but its only original once.

i can tell you that the radio is in fact oem original and was stock on that car! you car has the standard GS equipped clarion manual tuner stereo. the GSL in 83 came with a clarion ETR (electric tuner) which was also an option on the lower trim levels. two things that i see that are not stock are the strange bracket around the battery and that ugly stant radiator cap. snag a new cap from the dealer and it'll look far better imo.

modding that car in any way is almost a near crime. its a true survivor and that car is absolutely beautiful!

I am not going to go the header route, instead i am just going to get the bonez pipe as it is more stealthy. I don't imagine 28 year old cats will flow very well any more.

Bonez pipe ordered, I turned down the complete monza exhaust. I ordered new plugs and ngk wires as it has some skinny aftermarket wires on it now.

I have a wrap around spoiler which i have decided "not" to put on as I don't think it was offered that year.

You should definitely NOT put that spoiler on, I agree. You should sell it to me.

battery surround is not factory. the first year that mazda offered a battery box for the RX-7 was in 86 when it had a lid in addition to its surround.

here's a picture directly form the 83 FSM showing the battery:

Beautiful car. Changing it will make kittens cry in Hiroshima.

Might consider swapping out that brake fluid, though. Looks original. (ebil grin)
