Thanks for all the compliments guys, I appreciate it!
Here's a little background on the car:
My 79 LE was purchased by the original owner in May of 1979 in New Mexico. He then moved to Texas and several years ago, I purchased the car from him. Because it's a southern car, the body is in great shape with very little rust. It was definitely worth buying a southern car - I'd recommend that everyone consider that when looking for an older car as they typically have less rust. All the areas that rusted out on my old 85 GS are in great shape on the LE.
I purchased 4 of these wheels from a club member with the intent to have them professionally redone. Circumstances changed and I decided to restore them myself. It was quite a challenge, and took about 8 hours per wheel, but the results were worth the effort - they look like new. These wheels are made by the same company who produced the standard issue 79 LE wheel - Yokohama Tire Company. Cast into the outside dish of the wheel is the word "Almex". From the information I've gathered, I have come to the conclusion that these "Almex" wheels were only available as an option for the LE in 79. Can anyone verify that? I still have the standard issue 79 LE wheels in the garage, along with a set of 1980 LS wheels waiting to be restored when I have the time. Would be nice to find a 5th "Almex" wheel to have as a spare.
The interior is all original and fully functional. I even went the extra mile and had the original Clarion stereo and tape deck completely refurbished. This was well worth the money. I opted to remove the original LE seats to preserve them in good condition and replace them with a set of 2nd gen seats (for comfort), which bolt right in with no modifications. Now I can comfortably cruise along on a warm summer night and listen to Billy Joel on cassette! I'm in the process of wiring an 8 track player to plug into the extra input in back of the stereo. Should be a real treat when I'm done.
Under the hood is a ported and polished Atkins 12A streetport motor, Racing Beat Holley intake kit and a full RB streetport exhaust. I decided to go with this setup based on what I had read in some old Rotary Rocket magazines I have in my collection. I guess you could call this car a "sleeper". I still have the original engine, intake and stock exhaust all in good condition. I would like to rebuild it someday as time allows, but for now, I'm really enjoying the extra power!

The Almex rims were listed in the 79-80 parts books as an option. Never seen them on an Ltd but they look very nice with the dark paint. Should make you unique even amongst the few Ltds there are! I have an NOS set of 5 of the Almex too, but prefer the Gold Alloys on my Red SA. Glad to hear your keeping it stock -ish
Puzzled by your comments about the 8-track. Seriously? They were dead-and-gone before RX7s ever hit the streets. Definitely not 'age-appropriate' for the car (but whatever floats yer boat!)
The spare plug-in I think you're referring to "should" be plugged into an amp, which is mounted under the passenger seat.
yeah, engine shots would be sweet!

Thanks again guys!
I'll have to snap some more pics of the engine and interior and report back. Used to have some on a computer somewhere around here, but they appear to have gone missing.
Still working on that diff Sean. I'm waiting on a few bearings and a pinion seal, but in the meantime, I tore it apart and cleaned everything up. Looks like it should work well. Thanks again.
Thanks for info on the Almex wheels Stu. It's hard to gather accurate information on parts and options for a 30 year old car, but I appreciate your input. On the stereo I have, there are three plugs on the back - one for the amp, one for the cassette and an extra that looks just like the cassette, which I believe is another input. Nothing is plugged into it at the moment. And yeah, I'm semi-serious about putting that 8 track in the car. It's one of those things I'd like to do to 'see if it can be done', but I probably wouldn't permanently mount it in the car - haven't found a suitable spot for it and besides, it just wouldn't be kosher. Nice ride by the way, I like the gold wheels against the red body
