Too Fast
Just got a speeding ticket for doing 75 in a 45. I tried to explain that I was just trying to diagnose a carburator issue and needed to mash down on the accelerator because the issue is in the secondaries. He didn't buy it and gave me a huge, fatherly like lecture about speeding. I'm not sure what the fine is. Doesn't say on the ticket.
Can't an Rx7 lover just live life and have fun anymore? Damn it!!!

Hate to be a downer but...
It really doesn't surprise me that you got at ticket. 75 in a 45 is still 30 over, the fact that you were diagnosing your car is completely irrelevant.

It was the lecture that pisses me off. Why do cops act like they are so rightous all the time. I'll bet anything this guy has willingly broken the speed limit more than once.
BTW this was a side road out in the middle of nowhere. Get out a map. Not a lot of "freeways" in Montana.

Sounds like you were being protected from yourself-for your own good none the less. Unfortunately, this is becomming increasing more common in our society today. Hell, I remember back in the reckless days when you could ride your bike with out a helmet and even ride on the tail gate of your dads pickup. We even drank from the garden hose for christ sake. It's a wonder I survived. Sorry to hear about your bust.

What, you mean besides the fact that he was... right?
Apparently, not far enough out in the middle of nowhere, with a 45pmh speed limit AND a cop watching.
Sorry it's gonna cost you, but it was a self-inflicted wound.
If you choose to speed (as many of us do, I'm sure), you have to accept the cost when you get caught. Payin' the piper for the dance.

Sound about right i get a ticket about every 3 years and laugh (it pisses the cops off) but it's usually some 10 or 15 over ticket I figure i'm breaking the speed limit daily so 1 ticket every three aint bad. And yes the good ol days getting pulled over 3 sheets to wind cop didn't even make get out figured I'd fall down ( which is probably true) he said he would follow me home and check up on my car and if he found it gone again before 8 am he would bust me. true to his word followed me home ( it was only a mile or so all back roads) don't know if he ever check or not as I passed out once i got inside.

i remember when i got my one and only ticket, it was a 53 on a 35, thought about telling the cop he was dyslexic but he was very nice and didn't try to bring up the fact that i tried to speed away except for the fact that an old lady pulled up infront of me and i almost rear ended her.....but yeah 30mph over the speed limit should have you w/out a license i think, so you're lucky

yep, self inflicted.
you shouldn't be surprised by the lecture either, if you're moving, you're usually going too fast for the law enforcement...

police will try to find any law that you brake. all of my tickets have been due to carelessness driving. 85 mph in a 70, excessive acceleration and a california stop, are my 3 tickets i got.
of course i've never been caught when i'm doing my 110mph runs

Back in the day when when my SA was still the current generation, I got pulled over in my Rex while in reverse! I don't believe I was speeding, it was a 45MPH zone and I just happened to be traveling with the wrong end of the car going foward. Figures, the only other vehicle on the road was the state trooper I passed. Yes, I spent the night in the pokey.

this is a bit of a rant here, but who's been to wyoming?
my recollection is that there isn't much to hit, its all grass rolling hills, they didn't even have corn.
who set the speed limit on that road? did the local government take the average speed on the road and post the speed limit around there? or did they post a sign that is lower than the average speed, and generate revenue?
when did speeding become a bigger crime than murder? this might be a more urban problem, but around here the police just give tickets, if your house gets broken into they don't care, 20 years ago they at least used to take fingerprints.
when you see a model T ford on the freeway, you really have to wonder how far we have come in 100 years. sure your new car is better, but you are still going the same speeds they were going almost a century ago, and we can forget the 50's and 60's when the speed limits were closer to 75 mph, and pre fuel crisis, this road in wyoming probably didnt even have a speed limit.

To the OP-You broke the law, you got caught. What do you have to complain about? It sounds like he got you fair and square.

wait...1..your not supposed to drink from the garden hose? 2...in the good ole SC you still dont have to wear a helmet...3...you were going faster than the posed limit hence breaking the law...you still had options...pull over, take your ticket, got to court where it will be reduced.

With the condition of most state governments, they will be busting people moreso then usual. Which is why I hardly speed anymore at all.. Sure it p!sses you off that you got a ticket, but at the end of the day all the officer was doing was his job. Alot of cops dont know too much about cars, and ALL day long, all they get are excuses. So thats all he thought you were doing.
And if you really had ANY idea how much crap he puts up with in a day, you wouldnt have bothered even trying to get out of it. I am usually incredibly polite, and apoligize once or twice (dont over do it.. thats annoying too.) If you make his job easier for just 10 minutes, he will give you more consideration than anyone else for letting you off. Cops deal with so many B.S. excuses most are nearly immune to sympathy. Thats why I didnt get my first ticket until I was 21, and havent had one since. Well that and I dont drive as fast as I used too. And I got pulled over ALOT, all my friends hated me for it too lol.
I know this because my mom is in Law enforcement, and my dad was always a role model of what NOT to do when pulled over. He would actually lecture the officers, and call them idiots lol! Oh its priceless!!
