I finally got around to putting brake pad shims on my front caliper today...who knew such a tiny little bit of steel can make such a difference in driving a car. No more rattles!!
Well, almost no more rattles. I still have a rattle coming from one of the rear hatch struts (just going to replace it) and my sunroof has an annoying rattle. I played with that one a bit, and there seems to be a fair amount of lateral movement at the rear mounting point. Anyone know any fixes for that?

for the sunroof, check teh latch and the rotary **** for looseness and cracks. next check the latch on your roof for looseness and check the hinges for looseness.
hatch strut rattle is usually caused by a bad mounting point. the screw becomes loose and backs out. often times it causes the threads to be stripped on the outer "nut"...which is no longer available.
