i saw this ebay autcion this morning. its for what seems to be an original mazda produced SA pillow. mazda produced one for the 1988 10AE as well, mirroring a red 88 TII. here's the autcion: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll..._promot_widget

i wouldnt. i wouldnt pay that either. now that i lok, this appears to be in the wrong section. if the mods would like to move this to the non technical i would appreciate it. for some reason i thought i was in the non technical section when i posted this...
I've seen pics of that before, but 400 bucks is just plain nuts. That's even more outrageous than the guy on Amazon that wants 599 for the book 'How to Modify Your RX7'. At that price IanS' 1st gen cake pan should be worth at least 300. LOL

i've got an original wilton RX-7 cake pan. the insert in the pan lists the name of the pan as "sports car cake pan". interestingly enough i may offer it to IanS for $350, lol...

excellent!! as long as it comes from the rx-7 cake pan. i searched "sports car cake pan" and those items came up. since wilton lists it as "sports car cake pan", it just seemed fitting to search using that name. did you end up buying one?
LOL, what did I start here with the cake pan.
kymber. correcting people is rarely being mean, even though I'm sure many members think I'm a mean, grumpy old fart. Now you need to send an e-mail to Wilton.
For some reason, the last couple of rotary meets I've been to, they bake cornbread in the cake pan. Why cornbread, no clue, but it tastes better in that shape.

I'm sure it does! As far as Wilton goes, though...they discontinued the pan last time I tried to get one from them...the designer was probably an RX-7 enthusiast and they couldn't put the name on it for copyright reasons...LOL
I can't wait until it gets here!

OK, We're now up to five actually. I forgot I saw one that was not stitched together yet on eBay about three weeks ago.I meant to buy it, but missed the end of the auction.
My example is kind of a darker reddish brown. I think it is supposed to resemble the '79 color Sonic Bronze Metallic. I am pretty sure that they were offered in all of the original '79 RX-7 colors, and you could buy them through the aftermarket. I do seem to remember talking with one of my friends that worked at the dealerships when the 7s were new (heck, he was there when the R100s were still in showrooms), and he said some of the dealerships actually gave them to you when you bought a car, but you didn't always get your car's color, just depended on what the dealer had on hand. I don't know if that means they were originally only supplied to dealers or if the dealers bought them in the aftermarket on their own. Kind of like the red '87 T2 pillows given away for the 10th Ann buyers. I've heard of some dealers giving them to new buyers of 10th Anns only, some dealers giving them to anyone that bought an RX in '88, and some handing them out with test drives, and then some not even ever seeing them before. Who knows...
