So I was disassembling the rear axle earlier, trying to get to the diff. The left side came out a normal, nothing out of the ordinary. But when I'm attempting to take out my right axle, the hand brake cable is just stuck there. I've tried everything I could throw at it: grease, oil, wd-40. I have no way of twisting it, because anything I use just strips the metal. Is heat an option? I'm just worried that it'll expand the metal and make things worse. I've never dealt with this before on anything I've ever worked on, and I'm about to go insane. Are there any tricks people use for this kind of thing? It is an old car so I guess somebody's bound to have a similar problem. Just don't want to have to cut it and have an extra issue to deal with. I'll send pictures in a second to clarify the issue.
Thanks guys!
Just got around to getting pictures, here they are.
It's the cable that goes through the drums that you have to take out before the lines can be disconnected and the axles removed.
