Recent Acquisitions
While driving to my grandparents for Thanksgiving dinner I noticed of black FB sitting in a field out behind a house, as I went by I spotted that it had a spoiler and aftermarket wheels of some sort on it so I decided to turn around and see if I could snag a closer look. As I drove by the house the owner was sitting outside so I stopped in to inquire. Turns out he bought the car from a rotary shop and the story he told me was that it was brought in for diagnosis and the orginal owner never paid the bill so the shop dumped it on the curb hoping the city would come by and take it. He bought it from the shop for what was owed. Said he thought he would do a V8 swap on it but lost interest when he got a 240.
Anyway, I asked if I could go take a look and with his permission I trudged out in the mud to see what I could find. The car is an -SE and has had a hard life, only straight panel on the entire car were the rear quarters. The interior was weather rotted from having the driver side window busted out but it did have a nice set of 15 inch Enkei 92’s, a glass roof in pretty good condition as well as the one piece fiberglass rear spoiler. After talking with him for a little while he sold me all of the above plus the -SE suspension/rear end for $150 bucks.

I’m pretty happy with the deal and gonna do some searching to see if I can ID the spoiler The glass roof will go up for sale soon after I have a chance to give it and it’s case a good cleaning as will the set of 92’s currently on my GSL after everything is swapped over.

Dang good score. You never know what somebody may have sitting around. That's how I found my GSL. Luckily mine was sitting in a garage for 8 years before I picked it up.

Found my GSL on a county road sitting under an oak tree, registration sticker said 05 so I assumed it had been sitting there since. Cleaned up pretty good all things considered.

Doubtfull. I wanted to get the spoiler on but with the poor weather, and todays snow
, I haven't even had a chance to start prepping it.
The suspension stuff will have to be done rather quickly since I don't have a place to keep the car while it's being swapped. What I'm hoping to do is get one car up on the neigbors rack, the other up on stands nest to it and just swap it all at once. I won't get to clean, prep, and paint everything that way but I also can't keep the shop tied up for however long it would take me to do all that on my own. As long as mine is rolling I can do all the mechanicals in my driveway.

So the weather was finally cooperative for a day last week and I got the rear end out of the car. Didn't have a truck to get the rear home but the sway bar fit in the 7, lol. Any guess as to the make? Has no ID marks that I can see.

Got a Norther coming in this week soooo no work will get done this week. Supposed to be 17* later this week. :/

The center section of the spoiler (if it is a stock unit) has two studs which go down through two holes in the sheet metal. Inside the car, behind the hatch latch and slightly offset to each side, the studs extend down and are secured with a couple of nuts.
Reattachment could probably be done with doublesided 3M tape, but I figured getting the spoiler off of the parts car could be kinda tough if you didn't know about those two studs.

The car itself, while repairable, was pretty rough. The interior was rotted because the driver window was busted out and the guy stuck a couple of yard signs in there to try to keep it dry. Didn't work, lol. It's really not good for anything other than stripping down and racing it.Secondly, if I drug that car home I'd have to look for a new place to live.
The guy wants to get rid of the whole thing so if you wanna come down and get it I'd be more than happy to help you load it up. Bring you AE, I love AE's. The only 2nd gen car I'll ever own

same spoiler I have on my car. I'm pretty sure it's the old Wings West spoiler.
mazdatrix still sells it.

Weather finally cooperated long enough to get the rear end home too.
Fresh outta the car.

And after a bit of scraping and cleaning.

Any suggestions on paint? Gonna paint it black of course but want something that's gonna take the abuse of bein' under the car..

That's all for now. Still need to finish cleaning then painting the rear end, and if the weather allows, I'll go grab the front suspenion either Sunda or sometime next week.
I'm considering having the brake calipers powdercoated gold since I like the gold/black/red combo and would look good behind the mesh. Anyone ever had theirs done, what did you think?

I'd have prefered them to be gold as well, there is one lil chip on the face of one of them and if it weren't for that you'd not be able to tell they were gold. The lil spots around the center are covered by the centercaps.
