Rebuild or Long Block?
Wow, things have definitely changed since I last worked on the rex.
Yesterday I spent several hours on the car cleaning and such and I must say I am quite pleased with the turn out. I would like to have work started this week but am in a delimma for time and I dont have a garage to do the work in.
The history..
October 2001 I ran through a deeper water puddle that snuck up on me and that was the last day she ran. Decided to do a rebuild (at the time I had a garage) and by exact direction of the shop manual proceded to ready the engine to pull. THe car is still in that position (lacking a few bolts to the housing).
With no cherry picker I was stuck, still am.
So for those of you in NJ/Philly area, as previously stated, I would pay a mechanic to do it although I would love to do it myself...blah blah blah.
the point.
do I rebuild or buy new? Where is the best place to go to buy new does anyone know a good rotary mechanic in my area?
I gotta get this ball rolling!

actually if you have no picker, this is ok on a 1st gen.
if you remove the center steering link, the engine and trans can drop out the bottom. so you put the thing up on jack stands, and then support the engine/trans with the floor jack; remove the trans mount, and the engine mount and then you can lower out the bottom.
removing the center link can be a PITA, but not having to use a hoist is really convenient
