crap used two different search engines trying to get some specs with no luck. I wonder if you got a hold of racing beat if they would have someplace to send you to read up more

They sell posters of it. Pretty sure you could sweet-talk your way into getting someone at RB to give you a verbal history of it, at minimum.

http://www.racingbeat.com/pdf/rbhistory.pdf

With the introduction of the RX-7, Racing Beat designed and fabricated an RX-7 to attempt a Bonneville Land Speed Record in the summer of 1978. Entered in the E/GT class, and driven by Car and Driver Magazine Editor Don Sherman, this RX-7 boosted the class record from 167 to over 184 MPH.
Seeing as it ran in GT class, the mods would have been pretty restricted; it's a production class.

The sticky "More old magazine articles" Has the link for a pdf of the first issue of Rotary Rocket. There is an article on the RB SA Bonneville car in that issue.

http://intertron.com/ron/images/rr1-1.pdf

The article was shortened and reprinted in the Special Edition in 1980 along with this color picture and intro.
