Racing an RX7 at Laguna - Video
Figured I'd throw up a video from when our Chumpcar Team went racing at Laguna Seca last year. Theres a few other videos from other races on the youtube channel but I think Laguna edit was the best.
It's been quite the learning curve for some of our drivers to go from modern AWD or FWD cars on the street to racing an old, lower power, excellently braked RWD coupe on a racetrack as can be seen in the various offs and spins.
Overall I have to say our team has been so happy with how it has performed to date and hopefully we can make it last a few more seasons. I had definitely pushed from the beginning for an RX7 because of the knowledge I had gained from owning one and working through so many issues on this forum.
Hope you enjoy.
Car is an 83ish GSL running a heavy streetport, modified/cleaned up carb, racing beat header into a series muffler setup (damn noise restrictions), bilstein shocks and 350# springs in the front and blues in the rear with stock springs. Stripped for weight and I think thats about it.

Thanks! I always try and make an edit after one of our races so theres a few on the channel. This year might focus a bit more on the prep of the car within the edit but like to keep it short.
I love the fact that a 30 year old car is still somewhat competitive in our class. And extremely reliable once well setup despite all of the known issues of the first gens.
