Thanks man.
Clutch is starting to slip though. Bummer. Been to two big cruises in the last couple of weeks; the Woodward Cruise in Detroit, then last night the Metro Cruise in Grand Rapids. Butt loads of very cool classic cars, sports cars, weird cars, about everything you can think of. I'll post up a thread on it later, with a link to the photos we took.
Kidds seem to really dig on my car though, and I hear a lot of comparisons to a hot wheels car. Got way too many people screamig for burn outs, and dammit if I have any self control at all. Too much showing off for the crowds, now I've got to fix it. Lotsa people with video cameras too.
Next race is on the 6th, but I don't think I'll have it done by then. I'll have to take her out tomorrow and see how bad it is, maybe I can still get another race out of her. That's racing with the Porsche club, and I really want to do that one because I've got this thing about beating Porsches.
The race after that is on the 12th, and I'll have to have it done before then. My poor car will have 3, possibly 4 drivers for that event! She's going to get a workout for sure! Give us a chance to get some interior and exterior videos though, maybe put something cool together with it.
Wish me luck, because I'd much rather drive cars than work on them. Hell, I'd almost rather do dishes than work on cars.

No, its true. I'm pretty good working on cars, but I hate actually doing it. But I still get it done, and do all my own maintenance. But like I said, I'd rather be driving it than working on it.
Yup, love them burnouts. I did one the other night on a deserted back country road and when It caught it took off so hard my alxe back fell off. It was slip fit and I finally drug the clamp off. I drove about 10 miles strait piped no muffler. Before I decided to fix it. I had to let it cool off. Talk about a rude awkening anyone living within a 100 feet of the road. It was so loud. My girlfriend didn't find it as funny as me.

Well, I've always prided myself on the fact that I very rarely get beaten by Porsches. Doesn't seem to matter what they are, whether they're turbo/supercharged or not, it just seems like they can't catch me. Until this spring, when I got nipped by a supercharged 911, I was on a 2+ year run (and we do get a lot of very nice Porsches at our races).
But I guess if you go looking for them, there really are some very fast Porsches and drivers out there. lol. I went picking a fight, and got a little beat up in the process.
The Porsche Club of America (Michigan division) had their yearly autocross this past Sunday, and I was invited to attend. Based on past results, I was not expecting much in the way of competition. But boy oh boy, was I in for some enlightenment. lol.
Although they used the term "autocross", the course they used was pretty different. First of all, there were no real "technical" sections. Just a few turns, and some longish straight sections. About the most thrilling part was an off camber sweeper that you hit going both ways. This was definitely a course that was tilted toward the high horsepower cars.
I don't have access to the results yet, but I did get a good look at the timing board at the end. I think I got beaten by about 1/3 of the Porsches that showed up (maybe 12 total?). These were the Turbo/Supercharged monster beasts on $3K worth of tires. Beautiful cars to watch in action! I also got nipped by a Mazdaspeed3 and a Honda S2000. I did come in ahead of the Miatas and the RX8 that was there though. Overall, I think I finished somewhere in the top 25% overall.
I snapped a lot of pics, which can be found here:
http://furrin.org/Resources/PhotoGal...5/Default.aspx
(click on the series labeled "Porsche Club Autocross").
I also got some video clips of most of the Porsches handling the off camber sweeper, and a few runs with in-car video. I'll put something together when I get a chance and post up the link to the finished video.
Overall, it was a really great time. The Porsche guys were very friendly, even if they were wearing polo shirts. lol.

That bug is his daughter's car, and they both race it. He is actually one of our top drivers, and beats a lot of very fast cars with that little bug. He always claims that it is a "very happy" car.
He did very well at the race, but I ain't getting beat by no bug! lol.

You can tell it's not much of an autocross when your pictures don't include any cones as the car is turning. What the hell were they driving around? Nice pics though.

lol, most of those shots were taken as they were exiting the big sweeper at the end of the straightaway. There were at least 4 or 5 turns on that 50 second course. Porsches can at least turn a little bit when they have to.

Wow, what a great race this past weekend!!!
Even though the clutch is toast, and we had to be very delicate with it on our starts and that shift into 2nd gear, the car did just fine. We probably could have gained another second or so on the starts with a good clutch, but we still managed to put the fear of God into them.
Here's the kill list (all but a couple of these were on race rubber):
2x Honda S2000
10 out of the 11 Miatas (one was supercharged, with two drivers, I beat one but not the other)
944 Turbo
Mazda MS3
2x BMW Z3
8x rotaries (including an ITA car, and a turbo II)
4x Subaru WRX
2x Subaru STI
VW Corrado
Official results are here: http://furrin.org/Results/tabid/56/a...--9122009.aspx (I'm 98 CSP).
Lots of photos from the event (I'll post a link when I get them uploaded) and a bunch of video that I'll post up if I ever get the time to go through it.
I think we'll be taking a bit of a break while I sort out the clutch, a fuel leak, and install some new front struts (upgrading to race Illuminas from the "stock" Illuminas).
Well, so much for the theory that a 1st gen will never be competetive against the Miatas.
