I don't think Black Tie was making them in an effort to save weight, a bunch of us SA guys urged them to make them because we want new fenders lol

Fibreglass is crap. Labour intensive to make and therefore quite expensive for what it is plus it is prone to cracking upon minor impact. It's easier to hammer out a dent in metal than fixing a fibreglass panel that cracks from the same impact. Give me metal panels over fibreglass any day. I realise s1 fenders are no longer available, but they are not that different to FB ones. The contours and outer profiles are the same. It's only the front bumper section, the filleted styling line above the moulding and the reflector hole that differs. The styling line and reflect hole can be filled. Surely it is easier to modify FB fenders? They are plentiful. Even the brand new ones are cheap.

Yeah, the FB fender is only missing the entire part that sits UNDER the bumper










they aren't even remotely the same past the front wheel arch. Also fiberglass isn't as brittle as you make it out to be , if it gets hit hard enough to crack, the same metal part would have gotten dented and cost about 100$ to " fix" I have a black fender that's dented and the quotes iv received to fix it are 150- 250$. A new OEM one on eBay is 300$ but was for the right side =/ , In fact black Dragon had OEM ones for the
right before they closed.

Where can you find fresh replacement FB fenders? FB fenders would surely work in my application since I have the bumper tucked and am running an airdam which comes up the sides to the molding line.

Most air dams are built for FB fenders . If you have a Air dam that fits flush with a SA fender , you have yourself a rare part . I'm going to be honest and say I don't like the FB front . I do like the rear lights , but the bumpers look like they were slapped on and aren't flush with the body . The original bumpers look so much nicer . That being said they all look sweet with air dams and would swap to FB fenders to get a cool one .

Got this a while ago, sa front air dam that is reminiscent of a Kamei, but a little different.


I was thinking of cutting this one up and using it with a tucked front bumper. Might as well save this one and make a new dam out of sheet metal. Too bad your across the country. Surprised cali doesn't have more parts floating around.

That is a Xenon, the same style I am running. I am running it with a slightly tucked (about 1-1/2" tucked) bumper. Don't cut it up, that style is hard to find and looks really vintage-esque on the car.
I can't upload pictures from work, but google "RX7 Xenon air dam" and plenty of pics come up. I actually traded a Kamei replica for it.

Yours is slightly different than mine as it has fog lights built in, mine does not. I wonder if that was an option or if yours is earlier/later.

VERY rare. What you could do is get large sheets of cardboard and cover it , remove it and then trace it onto a piece of metal. Heck you could even make molds out of it I'd pay 200-300$ for an air damn like that in a heartbeat. There are some parts that are incredibly hard to find, that one of them! With wide body fenders and a air damn like that MHMHMHMH


Sorry FB guys but this looks beter than any fb/air dam combo <br/>

The guy I bought it from was a racer and said those were for brake cooling ducts. Don't see why a modern small fog lamp wouldn't fit, but for the time, those larger 6-7" rounds wouldn't come close to fitting in there.

It will not be getting modified in any way. I have made one fiberglass mold in the past and it was laborious and wholly time consuming to get everything made well. This one will be hanging in that spot for a while. If anyone experienced with molds wants to make a Xenon (thanks for the ref name) this is a pretty good example that has never been painted. It is still in its original gelcoat. Wouldn't mind selling it if that was the cause.

Here's mine, with the mild bumper tuck and no cooling ducts. I actually want to cut it about 1-1/2" down to take the marker light off it, I have an idea for some custom marker lights I want to use.

When I bought my 1979 this past February, the owner made a mold of this front airdam before installing it. Also pickup some other goodies like new OEM muffler and pipes and GSL-SE oil cooler.

The yellow is tape the owner put on because of cracking. The tape is now off. I plan on having a few air dams made from the mold.

any mazda dealer. because its Mazda of America, their parts catalog only goes back to 1986, but they have parts for older cars you just need to give them the part number, and go through the whole, 'its not available, oh wait it is thing'
