You and RXDad are the "old timers," I didn't claim mine from the showroom floor until February of '84.

A single family car is the same as a single owner as far as I am concerned. Very cool to be handed down from your dad.

Bought my gslse around 07 or 08.
The original owner was in his 70s and had it on Craigslist for $11K. no one bought it. Then he traded it in for a used Pontiac at a Honda dealer.
I saw it sitting in the lot around May and they were asking $9K.

I offered them $6K and they laughed. They told me there are rx7 enthusiast that will pay the $9k. I laughed and told them I'm that enthusiast.

Went back the same year at the end of October with $6k in my pocket and they took it. I've replaced the suspension bushings, shocks and springs, oil cooler, a few broken interior parts. I'm 58 and it's my daily driver.

I guess I qualify on both counts. Bought my original car in 79 and am also either a 2nd or 3rd owner of the others.

Bought my V9 85 SE when I was home on mid-tour leave the summer of '86 from a Mazda dealer in Blue Springs KS. Leftover and he wanted to move it 'cause the 86's were the rage. got to drive it for 3 days before I went back. Talk about a bummer.

Yup. It's going through a total restoration now.

At the time I knew I wanted a SE however was not aware that the body styles would be changing while I was gone. I had sold my burnt orange 79 SA before I left the states. When I got back, the local Mazda dealer in Omaha looked on their very rudimentary inventory computer and located only 3 SE's in the surround area (surplus/left over inventory).

A red one in Des Moines, a black one in Minneapolis and the V9 one in KC. Since KC was closest, that's the one I went to see and buy the same day. Had about 160 miles on it because one of the sales managers was driving it until they parked it out back of the dealership as 'surplus inventory". I gave a little over $16 g's for it, PS and burgundy leather. They threw in a moonroof too.

I got back (to stay) in mid-winter, got it out of storage and drove it in a blizzard to my next duty station. I wonder now how I made it with the original P6's Pirellis as they were not that great in deep snow. but somehow I did.

Bought my SE last year but I'm the 2nd owner. Previous owner passed away and his son sold it to me.
