Opinion needed about possible 83 LE purchase

OK I won't bore you guys with too many details, but basically there was a 83 LE on ebay last week, auction ended last night and didn't meet reserve. The car looks clean enough, some paint fading, needs door panels, and has 150k on it. It's said to still run fine, and has the wheels which so often go missing. It would be an 8 hour drive (each way) to get it, but thats doable.
I've been looking for one for a while, but wasn't able to bid on it as I was away most of the weekend. Anyway, here's the thing, I emailed him once I got home last night asking if he would be willing to sell it outright, he said yes, but for $2000, and if he doesn't get $2000 he's gonna part it!
Reason for my post is this, what would you guys do? $2000 is more than I wanted to spend, and would be a little tight to get together, just seems that these things are getting rarer and rarer and everytime they do show up they are way too far away to get...
Anyway, thanks for reading, just needed to vent out to my forum brothers haha.

Sean

if i had the money i'd buy the car tomorrow. thats a car that should be restored and cherished for years to come. i'm always on the hunt for one myself. i'd trade my TII for one if it were clean enough. if the guy parts the car it tells me he has no respect for RX-7's and has no business owning one.

Yea I agree, I guess all he sees in money, the irony is that in his ebay ad he states that he bought it with the intent of doing a 13b swap but decided not to becuse its too nice and original to do that to, then he talks about parting it... I don't get it.
I really want the the car, but $2000 is a lot of money.... ugh

AE's aren't turbo'd right? Then why would you be willing to trade your only turbo, high HP fastest car you own for another FB? Not prying here, I just find it curious.

I don't know exactly what LE's are worth, but $2000 for any good condition FB is a steal around my parts. BTW the wheels are gawgeous, I have some Bronze LE's on my 82.

the 10AE is turbocharged...and i would never trade that for an LE. i might trade my Brilliant Black 88 TII thats not an AE for it because i've longed for a nice LE for quite some time.

Well unless I stumble across a sack of money in the next few days I've decided against buying this. I'll get one eventually, but have too many projects already and nowhere really to store them... Hopefully someone else will buy it and save it!
