Opened the door, sat in the FB.......
and put the key in the ignition and fired her up. The 12a is a bit louder now that I'm running straight pipe but it sure is music to my ears. I wait about 3 mins. for the car to warm up before going onto my destination. While she is warming up I grab my Zune and set it on Queens of the Stoneage (IN THE FADE, to be exact.....i really love that song). The chock pull pops in and she is ready to go. I do a quick roll down on my windows since it is about 75 degrees out this morning and feel the cool breeze on my face. I put her in reverse and away she goes.
I go through the neighborhood and finally find my way onto the main road which ultimately heads to the highway. I stop at the last stop light before the highway entrance and smell the exhaust of the rotary at idle and it sure has a familiar scent. It's welcoming scent to be honest. The light turns green and I put her in first and she raises in revolutions. Put her in 2nd then in 3rd and I hear the rotary whine with the loud exhaust. I am instantly in a great mood because of it. Now I know she is not the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy but she is quick and I quickly hit 60 before putting it in 4th for a power cruise.
The windows down, the 60 mph wind going inside the car, the hum of the engine makes this drive that much more pleasant. I honestly don't know why a 27 year old car is this much fun to drive. Sure there are faster and more modern cars out there but none gives me the smile that this little RX-7 does. This thread really is not asking anything or is making any new found realization on anything. It's just a driver and his car and fact that owning an RX-7 is that damn enjoyable.

Had a nice drive in my SE just now. Nice to get away from the city every once and a while and really stretch the legs out. So much fun. The handling is just so progressive and forgiving. Downshift to second, hook a banked 90 corner while I feel the car ever so slightly want to start sliding, then get on the power again and book it down the next straight. Nothing better The tokiko blues and racing beat springs are such a good combo for a street car. I feel like I need to tune down the exhaust volume a bit, so I can hear those nice induction noises a bit better. I need a bigger muffler.

I know what you are saying....it is nice to hop in the car and just go cruising....no destination...just cruising... I love the humm of the engine, the RB street port exhaust system is dead nuts on..... Now I love being able to shift into 5th gear!!
It may sound silly, but my wife and I love travelling places and camping.... we are planning a camping trip to the Texas Hill country over Thanksgiving and we are going to put the SA22 on my trailer and pull it with us camping..... That way I can get up in the morning....drink some coffee and then go for a relaxing morning cruise in the hill country....
Some might say...just drive the car camping...well I need more room and my Suburban carries more people.... I can't wait for Thanksgiving...

Driving my FB after driving my VW Jetta gives these cars so much character. A jetta is just a car, but when I am driving my FB, its something special, puts a grin on my face and butterflies in my stomach. My Fiance sees it and tells me I can never get rid of my baby

My favorite part of my job is when I finally get back to the yard after 10 days in my 8X8 noisy box of a home on wheels, finish my paperwork, load my crap into the hatch and take the hour drive home. Copless back roads with one really fun but nerve racking chicane halfway and then 3 lane freeway the other half. Music cranked, windows down, sunroof cracked and a bigass smile on my face. Makes the stress of 10 straight days melt away every time. I can't wait to get the engine rebuilt in the spring, since I seriously miss driving my car. My other car is a 4 door Sunfire, so I'm sure you all understand the contrast and my resulting disappointment every time I get into the Sunfire.
