Project "cheap autocrosser" got a makeover today!! I now have more invested in wheels and tires than the rest of the car!!

I installed Panasport Ultralight wheels, Hoosier A6 225/45/13 race tires, slotted and drilled rotors from Mazdatrix and new "Autocross compound" Hawk brake pads today!!

She is fresh off the jack stands, so she is still sitting a little high! Prolly still need to lower her about 1.5 inch (RESPEED UPGRADE TO COME!!) but WOW... what a transformation!!

Anyhow I am OK with the ride height now... The bottom of my header has only 1 3/4 clearance now!!

Coming along quite nicely my friend. The Hoosiers I got to run for two events (very old, crusty, and already starting to cord when I got them) were the same size.

You might find the need to pop up to 3rd gear once in a while now, but I never found that to be a problem. The improvements in acceleration made the car feel like a real monster.

SICK handling man!! It stuck to the ground like glue... Still trying to figure out tire pressures and driving style. My fastest run of the day was my first!!! WHen I thought I was taking it easy! I think I was overdriving the car.

The car sits so low now... hard to get it on the trailer now!

I need to work on my limited slip now. It is wore out and I am spinning my inner tire too much!

What kind of rear bar are you running? Mine used to spin the inside wheel a lot and then I took off the rear sway bar. I have hardly any spin now.
