New-ish guy
Hi there, just wanted to do a quick intro, I recently purchased an 85-GS. This will be my second rx-7 but my first experience with a first gen. My other one was an 87. I'm currently in the Air Force and stationed in the Newport News area of Virginia. Anyway I just wanted to say hi and that I'm excited to finally have another rotary to drive

Welcome to the Darkside (again), fly boy.
But seriously, enjoy the little Wankel and here's a link for the FSMs. Find the one for your car, download, and enjoy.

VA? Man, who in the world wants to be in VA? Nothing but a bunch of smartasses in VA!

Don't feel bad, NO ONE likes Texas. Not even the Texans!
Anyways, browse around in the Archives and FAQ section. There's a lot of nice stuff you can upgrade that thing with with not a lot of money. Which is always a good thing because us 1st Genners are a bunch of cheapskates.

Haha, i work with a few Texans, they claim to love it but i think it's just a show. I've poked around on the faq's for quite some time now, my alternator went bad and I've been waiting for the holidays to be over before i fix it. I guess i just verified the cheapskate thing with that huh?

I did a write-up in the Archive section for upgrading the alternator. Not bad for $80.

Also, see about doing the 2nd Gen coil ignition setup. Easily done for $30. $50 if you get 2nd Gen wires (they help, but not needed apparently).

thanks for the tip, i'll be heading to autozone tommorow. Went to turn the car on one day and just got a click, can't get the battery to hold a charge and i checked the starter. I'm really hoping a new alternator will solve the problem as i'm pretty lost from this point if it's not. I hadn't thought about getting a s-5 alternator but i guess if i have to get another i may as well upgrade it while i'm at it.
