If you could set it up like a euro spec car with the license plate there then it might be cool but, with nothing there at all it looks very unfinished, by which I mean that it looks like there is obviously supposed to be something there i.e., plate, trim-panel but, not just an opening. Toss some ideas around about what you ca do with that space, I remember seeing an aftermarket filler piece that in red reflector material with "RX-7" imprinted on it, a quick search should help on both those items mentioned.

i dont like the "rx7" panel... i dont know... if it wasn't recessed it wouldn't be as obvious your right.. and a license plate wont fit there to tall. im not sure... just an idea... thanks for the opinion though

Not my personal style...but to each their own. I'm actually considering making that area a functioning LED running / brake light when I get enough funding for my LED tail light build. It does make it look like an SA, don't know if you were going for that kind of look. It does look unfinished, as mentioned above, and I would try and fill it with something if I was you - my 2 cents.
So if you like it stick with it is my opinion

You could add some scroll work decal, like the lower back tattoo on slutty girls

j9fd3s That's a nice little car .. How about a little body work just to flatten it out a bit or make a nice plate and use the holes that are there and then a nice 3 stage overlay that says rotary or anything you want each stage could even say something different .. you could get it done so it changed color as the light and angle changes cherry, green, and gold or what ever , My chum down the street does that kind of thing . He just did a old kids pedal car it was black base then went to green flake( a nice green ) then gold flake with a touch of red flake with clear coat . Looks very plain until you hit the sunlight the it just comes alive . It would look super . It's much nicer than anything I will ever have but that spot does take away from the little car . JMO venom 88 you did ask..

If it wasnt for the 2 bolt hole/bumps you might be able to pull it off, but with the bumps, in my opinion it looks like something is missing, or unfinished....not bad per se, just not complete.

yeah i was considering making a new panel and just bolting it up flush so it looks natural. i didn't want to use the stock piece and fill it in and just use it but ehh, i didn't want to waste the piece or be cheap. lol ill defiantly not leave it like that.. but i did want it to be reversible if i wanted to change it back... so making a new panel to replace the old one would be ideal..

i live in the United states and our license plates are too tall....
if only you had common sense to know that already.... or read previous posts...

i dont think TX DMV's would appreciate me bending the crap out of my plate or cutting it to fit...

A flat sheet metal filler plate perhaps following the curvature of the body?

It looks unfinished, meaning it looks like there should be a plastic piece there...Because there IS supposed to be a plastic piece there. Try it like this:

could I fit the FB tails in my SA? I know the bolts for the SA are on the outside but if I can fit the FB tails, I would be very happy
