my GF is getting her 1st FB!

i was talkinng with my girlfriend and she was really into the 280z datsans. i was showing them to her when she noticed and FB and said she really really like that better.
we looked around and found one for $500 with a rebuilt 12a engine with 10,000 miles on it, but its said to have electrical problems.

my question is, what should i look for when checking the car out? what body problems? where should i look for electrical problems? anything!

ask yourself how much you would like to work on your GF's car? lol. The FB is a beauty in its simplicity if you perform the longevity/tune up mods so i would say you want to look long and hard at the chassis first(wheel well rust, ect). then find out about the engine. IMO $500 for a nice looking runner is going to be a pretty good deal.

For $500 it's as is. It should not be considered for her daily driver IMO it should be a project car you can park and work on.

Well I mean for $500 really does not matter a lot of the details if the sellers knows what he / she is doing.. And that should be just saying take it or leave it. It sounds like a roller to me (need of repair).

IMO = In My Opinion

Check out the 1st gen FAQ and also look in the archive. There are some good threads for what to look for when buying a 1st gen.
