Lug nuts???
I know it's a silly question . I have the original waffle wheels on my car and the lug bolts too. The lug bolts are starting to rust a little (maybe more than a little) and I would like to take them off to have them restored if possible. So in the mean time I want to have a replacement. What do I need? I know I need the wheel stud also but what size? And what bolt size do I need? Thanks guys.

SA waffles take a longer-than-normal lug bolt. Most places (including Black Dragon) carry only the shorter FB-length bolts.
Seeing as new bolts from Mazda are available but in the stupid-price category, I recently had mine re-chromed. Came out beautiful, but the finish is fragile, as it is not the hard-chrome of the original. Special precautions must be taken when removing/installing.

Glen is correct, the SA lug bolts are quite a bit longer. this is due to the waffle wheel. you can use an X pattern wheel from 81-85 and use the shorter bolts..but i prefer the look of the waffles. what you may want to do is get the car in the garage and put it on four jack stands and remove the wheels and have the lug bolts refinished with chrome plating as Glen did or you can replace the set or the few that you need.

What DivinDriver did is what I want to do. The only problem is both of my parents cars take up the garage. All of the bolts need this treatment, so all of the wheels will have to come off. The X wheels are out of the question because I can't get a hold of any and I wouldn't spend the money on them any way. Can't I get the studs, and get an open end lug nut like this?:

The place I was at was Metro wheels in Mereitta, Ga. The do wheel restorations and they have a website. If you give them a call they can probably send you what you need on a mail order basis. You may have to e-mail them a pic so they know exactly what you need.
Tell them the guy from alabama with the rx7 sent you!

Ok, but will they know who I'm talking about? I would hate the conversation to go like this:
Me: hey, I need lug nuts for my 79 Rx7 and a guy from Alabama with an Rx7 told me you have some that will fit my car.
Them: Yeah.... we might have lug bolts that will fit your car, but who the heck is the guy from Alabama?
Me: You that one guy?
Them: *hang up*
