My old GLC didn't have a passenger-side mirror (it came that way stock, not like it fell off or something, lol). I never missed it.

Personally, while the fender mirrors look cool, I'd rather have the door mirrors for purely practical reasons.

i prefer the euro style square ones to our tiny ones. I cannot see anything useful in the tiny mirrors. Im almost tempted to just leave them off but im worried about the risk of tickets lol

More like, someone gets hit by the CAR, and on their way up the hood, the mirror rips em open like a gutted fish.

Same reason car hood ornaments are mounted on springs.

PS: any question that starts off "How would someone be dumb enough to..." means you haven't watched enough G4.

It looks like Dumbo ears! Square mirrros seem a little bland, but that's just my opinion.

^ nice, what divindriver said. Gotta love G4. I personally dislike the tiny little door mirrors, I cant see crap out of em anyways, I have to turn my head regardless, with that said, I am going to get a big roadcourse rear mirror in the car and possible fender mirrors for ***** and grins since I cant see out of the side mirrors anyway.

That is the problem being active duty military sometimes you are here sometimes you aren't.

Currently I have 2 7s with fender mirrors and one cosmo, but i have a set for an R100 and a couple of other sets one as back up for the cosmo and one as back up for the 7.

I will be at 7-stock for about a week but should be around for at least a couple of months

You don't need mirrors! Just slam the wheel over without looking at all like everyone else on the road! Only problem is were not driving 7000 pound SUVs or yammering on our cell phones...

my TR3 has fender mirrors

when you get em adjusted ok, they are actually fine, but everytime someone walks past the car, they get knocked around.

so in the real world they basically are useless as mirrors, but would be ok, if you wanted ripped pants

I've been driving with my fender mirrors and I must say thay are F***ing awesome. I never take my eye off the front of the road. I bought the mirrors on Ebay a while back for 40 bucks brand new. Their made for a rx3 or a old school celica.

car is not painted yet but its getting there and no I'm not keeping the green.

I have always been interested in moving my mirrors to the fenders. My drivers mirror wobbles so bad I can't really make out what kind of car is behind me, just that there is one. 3 things hold me back:

Where on the fender to put them
How to add a stable mount as not to wobble at speeds
Retaining power mirrors

I believe it is just the wires that run into the back of the mirror where the motor sits, so I could just run longer wires, right?

Longer wires will work. It's not like they draw any amperage anyway.

You'll need some sort of re-enforcement plate underneath or they'll wobble all over - OEM units have a bracket/re-enforcement plate at the mount point. Actually so does the door mount FWIW. The harness to the door mirror takes quite a convoluted route, so you might get lucky and have the run to the fender match up. Check out via Google some of the JDM SA22C / RX7 sites to see pics of where fender mirrors mount...

Ralph Nadar probably has something to do with them not coming to America.

Not on topic, but if you have ever noticed the sticker on lawn mowers indicating that it's not a good idea to put your hand underneath, it's because someone picked one up and tried to use it for a hedge trimmer, AND THEN SUED the manufacturer when he lost some fingers.

My dad had fender mirrors on his MGB and loved them. He said he could see everything in his mirrors without turning his head.

Maybe we could find someone to make up some JDM looking mirrors?

If there's a warning label on something... chances are it's because someone has actually done it and sued them.

No, that was McDonald's, and she actually had a legitimate case. Read up on it. There are a lot of great examples of frivolous lawsuits, but that isn't one of them.
