How would corvette guys feel?
it has been scientifically proven that the rotary engine will improve resale value of anything it powers
downgrade schmowngrade... you watch your tongue sir!
Sorry, but I would have to agree with MOBEONER. I am just thinking about my friend's '69 Vette with the 427 tri-power, headers, and side pipes. Then I imagine it sounding like a rotary at idle... doesn't work. Then I think of the glorious sound of all 6 barrels singing their beautiful melody verses the shrill scream of a PP rotary at 9k. As much as I love the rotary, my ears will always crave the sound of a healthy rumbling V-8.

good point.... a 20b on the other hand has a bit more of a beefy sound.... 4 rotors sounds pretty nasty till you rev them, then they sound like f1 cars (which is still awesome).........
wait..... i am justifying a rotary in a vette.... DAMN MYSELF!!!!
big litre V8 = America
tiny litre rotary = Japan
my final thoughts..........
Idk if i would do it myself but it would be awesome to see a 20b in a vett. I deff am biased toward the rotarys i wud drop one in ne car just to hear it brap! I myself have always been more partial to G body gm's i would love a monte carlo with a 20b.

One thing I thought about after seeing the other thread that sparked this one....
The beauty of engine swaps is that they can be undone. I mean, unless you really hack that **** out of the car, it really doesn't matter in the end. You build your car how you want it, and when you sell it the new owner can return it to it's original state or leave it as is, or even put a hamster powered motor in it. I wouldn't say that any engine swap ruins the spirit of the car, it just changes it, and change is not necessarily a bad thing.

I doubt "Corvette Guys" would give a ****.
They have better things to worry about than what some dude is doing to his car across the country. Like having sex with women and being alcoholics. lol

My dream project is a 13B turbo in either a C2 Vette roadster1. Option 2 is a Robra (a rotary in a Cobra kit). If that lotto ticket comes in, the build will happen!
Have you guys seen the build thread out here for the 72 Nova with the 13bt in it?

RX engine swap to C3 Corvette
Actually funny thing is I am looking to put a 20B or like model into my C3 Corvette. A good friend put one in an experimental airplane so why not in my daily driver vette?
To my mind, people can stick whatever engine they want into any car. I have quite broad automotive tastes. However, where RX-7s differ is that "Rotary" is part of the car's identity but more importantly it's name. Without the rotary it is no longer an "RX". Very few car's identities are so closely tied to its powerplant, maybe Ferrari Testarossa, Nissan 240Z, Dodge Hellcat?
I'm fine with people putting piston engines in rotary cars, but at that moment it ceases to be a RX-7. It's just a random faceless car to me with some engine from that point. I don't get angry, I'm just not interested.

I don't think a rotary swap into a Corvette (or any American muscle car) would even make much sense. These engines are low torque, and that's a lot of weight to haul around.
I've always been mystified by why people swap piston engines into rotary cars. The main reason I bought my RX-7 was for the rotary. It's a unique engine and has a unique driving experience that's like no other engine produced. If you want a fast V8 powered car, why not buy one?
Forget Corvettes though, if I were to swap a rotary into a car it didn't belong in, it'd have to be a Porsche/VW 914
In general I don't much care for engine swaps though, unless it's a very similar engine from the same manufacturer.

"How would corvette owners feel"...which corvette owners do you mean. Late 70's and early 80's vettes were under powered dogs. The cars looked great but were strangled by safety and emission requirements. Nowadays, the new millennia vettes have super car performance for a hell of a low price. So there are many many types of corvette owners.
I wonder what the quality is like? I ventured into a corvette forum and asked about the late 70's cars. One guy offered to deliver his for $10k, or was it $20K ? Doesn't sound like a passionate owner.
Stuff a rotary in a 914? My 914 handled great, but cost as much as a porsche to maintain, and the power sucked! When I visited mazdatrix in signal hill, there were two 911's. The clerk said they were there because they had rotaries in them.
