Ok, the vents just in front of the rear quarter windows, on the back of the B-pillar that have the black covers over them....once I remove the covers, how do I remove the vent "baffle?" thingie behind it??? Didnt want to do too much tugging till I had a clue what I was tugging on....thanks!

Yeah, there are 2 screws that hold the grille covers on, but then going into the car is a black plastic piece that I cant figure out how to get out of the car.

I've never removed mine; the parts reference shows that the part is called an "extractor" and has no screws or fasteners.

Perhaps it's held in place by glue or sealant around the edge?

The "lip" that sticks out of the body is sealed to the body, I got that loose and can get it to move, but it doesnt want to come out the hole. Its almost like putting a balloon in a hole and blowing it up and trying to take it back out the hole....I just dont want to tear the things up snatching on them until i have some clue what I am dealing with, as if I tear them its a straight path for water to get in the car... Pictures of it are nonexistant that I can find. Parts manual has a tiny line drawing, but thats it. Maybe I will make a trip to the salvage yard and remove one of theirs....need em out so I can get paint back between it and the front of the qtr windows, there is about a 1/2" wide strip thats painted...and I dont want over spray all over the vent since you can see it, and its too flexible to mask off more than likely....

I'll study the inside, but I dont remember there being a hole big enough to pull them thru in the inner sheetmetal panel, cant hurt to look though. I've tugged as much as i fell safe tugging to pull them out, about to the point of giving up on them until i can go try it on a junker. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks, will try on another car and see what I can figure out. At this point I am leaning towards leaving them in and dealing with masking them off.

Lol yeah I was a bit stumped too when I repainted mine, but honestly it seemed likely that it was going to break and then you'd really be stuck... I'm all for totally disasembling the car to do a proper paint job, but a few things are best left untouched. Nice car btw!
