Help

Last year I purchased a 1982 RX7 . It ran but the carb wouldn't open up in the higher gears. I had a guy work on it and now it won't idle but it runs fairly well. It still doesn't open up in upper 4th or 5th on the highway. I haven't found anyone who will look at it and they've said the linkage is a nightmare. Supposedly its missing some linkage keepers ? Does anyone have any suggestions or know of any one who would work on this anywhere near IN, MI, Ohio Tri- State Area ?

have you confirmed wether or not the secondaries are opening?

have you double checked the idle speed adjustment? if your lookign from the passeger side it's on the right behind where the air pump is/was

there is a rocker pull rod on the rear passenger side of the carb that usually pops off after someone worked on the carb, this may be your top end performance issue but the idle issue that came about could be due to anything including someone monkeying with the idle mixture screw. back the mixture screw out 1.5 turns from full in and see if it will idle again.

missing linkage as he stated could be the secondary linkage ... and if he is not sure enough to make adjustments on his own ... jumping to adjustments could result in an even crappier running car

oh and angolabob there is a pretty strong knowledgable bunch up in them woods ... perhaps look around in the regional section of this forum

Change-fuel-filter.
Could be a "simple" fuel delivery problem.... as opposed to carb itself.
