GSL-SE project updates

In preparation for DGRR in April.. one320fc and I are trying to get two FBs prepared for the trip.

I believe he is posting some info on his build so I'll highlight mine.

This weekend I installed T2 seats, replaced the red sunroof headliner (from a swapped black car that had red interior), put my old FC SE lugs on and started pondering the gauge setup.

I also ordered some new rubber 205/60/14s all around from Falken.

Before the trip I still need to do the body, paint the car, bleed the brakes, and get some kind of radio in place.

I'd like to have my exhaust on, but still need the header. I'm also replacing all gaskets, hoses, etc. New waterpump, thermostat, etc. It runs ok now, but for the long 8 hour drive down, I want to make sure everything is in top order.

Anybody in the VA area going to Deals Gap should caravan with us.

For now, enjoy the pics...

These are the before.

These are the nice T2 seats and sunroof headliner panel after the install.

Got the stuff from Aws140 here on the forum - thanks again!

I used the FB sliders instead of the FC like I planned since it was quicker and to be honest, other than some auto-x.. the car wont see the open track (thats why I have an FC!)...

Only issue w/ the swap is the passenger FB rails on a T2 seat.. the rail mounted to the trans tunnel wasn't long enough. Funny though how Mazda had a pre-drilled hole that lined up perfectly. Slide the factory bolt in, used a lock washer and nut from a T2 alt B terminal (same thread) and DONE! Finally my interior is a little cleaner.

The T2 seats have a higher back too, which along w/ the stronger bolster and firmer buckets..makes me feel a lot safer and more comfortable

Here's the pic of the issue w/ the passenger side.

I also started pondering the gauge setup. The factory gauges in this car are crap. I plan on running a water temp, oil temp and volts... oil pressure gauge is fine for factory.

Last, but not least... I found a complete set of chrome lug nuts from my 2nd gen FC. When I got the GSL-SE.. it had three different size tires on it and was missing two lug nuts... so why not...

New rubber should be here this week, but I've got travel on business in early March, so will probably hold off until I return to continue the work...

One last shot - The T2 seats look great in an FB... highly recommended if your stock seats are worn or busted.

My stockers werent bad, just older and dingy - they are being made into new shop stools, yay!

Yep - they are in a good home for sure. I've owned a number of 7s (and now on 8 #2) and take pride in every build. Although, this GSL-SE doesnt get as much detail as my FC, it'll still be very nice.

You'll see the finished product at DGRR if all goes well...

Hum those do look pimp. Since we are on the subject has anyone mounted 3rd party seats like recaro's without much modification? I know it can be done from looking at drag 7's but didn't know if there was something more practical for comfort.

Just buy the bracket for the car from the seat manufacturer, they will bolt right up.
