GSL-SE Clarion installation

When I purchased my car a year ago, it had a CD play in it. I recently purchased a Clarion radio that is what the car would have come stock with

I'm trying to wire it up, and I'm struggling with the 6 and 8 DIN connectors. The radio looks like it accepts a 6 DIN, but my harness appears to have an 8 DIN under the dash, that looks like it should be plugged into the back of the radio. Any suggestions?

Thanks

What year car and is it the correct radio for that year? There are so many variations. I know a little bit about the 83 style setup that looks like this:

He posted GSL-SE which is 1984/1985.

The factory service manual for Body Electrical shows all the connections.

On page 15-66 it has a diagram of the audio harness. There is a segment labeled "short DIN". Can anyone confirm that this goes from an 8 pin DIN, to a 6 pin?

Thanks

The "Short DIN" is used with System 3 which is the radio only version. Short in this case does not mean "small" but an electrical short. This Short is described on page 15-65 lower right of page. The Short piece is used in place of the EQ connection.

System 1 -> Radio/Cassette/EQ

System 2 -> Radio/Cassette

System 3 -> Radio
