Got my baby back!

I missed last year's driving season. But not this year! Here's some pics from RPM Motorsports. Thanks for the help and hospitality Joe and Dan!

Looking pretty good ... now get it on the dyno for some HP figures ... I don't think I've seen a dyno out of RPM's shop yet.

I still need to set-up the new fuel system, reattach omp/ create new oil lines, water pump, etc, install rad and relocate the battery.

Even if all of that were done, I've still got 3 1/2 feet of snow saying "not yet".

I need to create a new rod to run from the weber to the omp. Does anybody have any suggestions other than clothes hanger wire?

Welding rod (minus the flaky bits on the outside (sorry for lack of tech terms) lol Idno if it would be any better than clothes hanger

How long is a welding rod? I haven't measured out the distance between the carb and the omp yet. I like the idea of the rod since it won't involve unbending it as I would need to do with the hanger. I want the linkage to look good too.

Yeah I know...most engine's I build get put into cars then they run out of money and cant finish the car to get dyno numbers!! lol.

But our Half-Bridged Race car made 340whp at 11psi on pump fuel... if that counts for anything

No Joe that doesn't count, I want to see an NA graph as I believe that gives a better representation of the porting job :P Let's make it interesting, I challenge you to beat my Mazdees' ported engine New figures should be in at begining of may ... is there's no snow around

EDIT:
Must be 12a

hehe sounds like a nice challenge If only there were more people wanting 12a's built.

We'll see how Brians 12a fairs on the dyno

My RX-2 might be going 12a now as well.....although it wont be a street port or a bridge port. Wont be stock either lol...

I guess I had better jump in here since it's my car that's being challenged. (and Joe's porting of course.) Just don't go volunteering my car for a drag race for pinks. That's where I draw the line.

Yeah Joe go with a 12A!!! Do I smell a potential peri-port?!?!?!

Brian do I smell fear? No all out pinks dyno challenge?:P: lol jk ... Joe, maybe I should just wait for Jon's "Ultimate 12a?" engine? It nice to see people still true to the 12a ... its what will make us stand out in a crowd of modified rx7's as everyone seems to be just opting out to the heavier 13b brother. Anyone actually know the actual weight difference between the engines? Don't forget to add, the extra oil needed, the extra water in the engine, and all the other extra's the 13 adds in weight.

Fear??? No...I just wouldn't have the room to keep another 7 in my driveway!

I've got the weight specs in one of my books...I'll dig those up. It would be good to know just how much extra weight everyone's carrying around with their 13B since weight is always such a major issue with performance cars.

Haha you guys are jokes....it'll be interesting to see what the dyno outcome is. I'm excited already!

Brian, yeah my RX-2 may be getting a PPort. I have a pair of Susuki Hybusa TB's that measure 42mm ID at the smallest point. I fugured on a 12a that would be a pretty decent sized TB for a street driven PP
The whole reason for trying the PP with the Hybusa TB's is to try out our variable length intake idea. The same that the 787B has.
At low RPM the intake will be extended all the way out for better torque and as the RPM increases, the intake will shorten giving the engine wicked top end power.

At least thats the plan....we'll see how effective it really is once its done. I'm aiming to have it semi-finished for the Deals Gap Rally thing.

Joe only 42mm? Thats seems awfully small for a P-Port. And here's me thinking my 47mm ITB's might be choking my system for my SP... but only one way to find out I guess.

Yeah I know...its a small P-Port, but it is a P-Port. Theres a whole lot less restriction to a 42mm hole in the housing then having the air go in through a side port and turn corners ect.

I'm going to flow bench test these TB's to see what kind of air flow I get out of them first before I start cutting holes in perfectly good 12a housings

Joe where about do you go on flow bench test them? I would like to get my ITB's tested just so that I know what I have exactly so that later on I can improvise on things. Also if you know the price of such testing? Thanks.

PS:

Hey no biggie! I'll forgive you is you can tell me the length of a welding rod. Or better yet, what I should use for linkage to my OMP.

welding rods are about 14" but I wouldn't recommend using them for the OMP as they are actually fairly easy to bend. What I did with my Holley setup is used both the stock rod and another rod then basically just brazed together to achieve the needed length. You want a rod that has a good strengh, some hanger wires can do but alot of them are just too easy to bend. Come to think about it, I wonder if I still have that rod from my Holley setup ... going to check in the garage right now ... nope I think that I shipped it out with the holley. that or I'm blind. But you can see a picture of it here:
