Fuel Leak
First - The exhaust never got hot.
Yep, I understand...
The "got her running" was before the leak.

Rebuilt a Nikki for my '85, 1.1.
Got her running but there were fuel leaks in several places.
Fom what I could tell all in the air horn, and the two front Throttle to Body bolts.
I tore the top down and replaced the crush washers and tightened up everything, though not the rear Throttle to Body bolts.
I didn't notice any fuel leaking in the rear of the carb (and there was no puddle at the time, but the car was in the driveway facing down a 5 -10 degree decline).
Tried to start it; it went...like it was leaking; running but not running; I looked her over none of the original leak points were leaking.
Smelled fuel; checked underneath and there was a nice fuel puddle.
That puddle wasn't there before I did the tighten up (shout out to Archie Bell 🤣.
Can fuel actually leak from within this exhaust pipe connection and out the joint, or is this run-off n the outside from an as yet to be tightened weak point on the back of the carb?

Have RX-7, will restore

I green that it looks like oil on the exhaust. Just as dangerous, just a different flashpoint. I've never had a carbeak gas after a rebuild. Did you ensure all of the old gasket material was removed and the surfaces were clean and true before installing new gaskets when rebuilding the carb? The only thing I can think to make the carb leak gas is faulty gaskets or o-rings on the sight glass sections.

Man even the smallest fuel leak can turn bad . I almost lost my car if it wasent for my viper alarm that alerts me when somebody bangs my car my car plus others would of blew up maybe . I had small leak when I was in the movies theatre I guess somebody saw a big gas leak and banged the car and holy smokes it was gas every where get on top of that asap plus with the heat of rotary’s it’ll start a fire.
