you are not gonna believe this now....

The retards that painted my RX should be shot, and then sodomized by Mr. T.... you are not gonna believe this now....

The rear bumper fell off...it fell off.....it fell the **** off.....

They did not attach the bumper bolts at all..... I included some pictures of the SA22 rear bumper. Remember the SA22 has an old school all steel bumper. It has two shocks that go into the car and attaches with two large bolts ......which...they happened to leave off. Sooooooo...the bumper was just poked into the pockets on the car and NOTHING was there to hold it permanantly attached.....

What now???

Release the name of the body shop to the public and inform the public to never take their car there. Maaco would even be a safer place than the awful place your car that been through hell was at.

Wow... We should all chip in a couple dollars to a fund to help fix this car back to normal for you. I would have broken into the shop and stole the car back after 2 months... but a year??? And everything is broken? How do you loose parts? Seriously. Put them all in a zip lock back and into the glove box or something. If I were you, I would go over EVERY bolt on the car and re torque it. Make sure everything is fastened. Make sure all the hoses are in good shape and clamped. Check the wiring for bugs too.

Sorry you went through this, but at least the paint looks good in the pictures.

How much did the charge you? Single stage or base/clear?

Forgot to say, the paint looks great, and I'm envious of your 7k runs. Looks great man.

Gonna take her today for a run to the North side of Houston for the monthly Houston RX-7 club meet. She should be ready for the task...about a 60 mile drive coupled with tons of Houston traffic!!

You may or may not already know this but if by peeling tape off paint, if the paint comes off that means that the surface was not prepped correctly. If paint comes off primer there was too long of a flash time or was fully cured and not scuffed before painting. If primer and all comes off then there was either contamination of some sort or not prepped properly. Most likely this happened on an edge as these are the most common areas to miss when scuffing.

If you have any specific questions about body work feel free to PM me and I will do my best to answer your questions.

I traded an old 80's Mercedes that I had about $1700 invested in.

I thought about leaving it, but after 11 months and 2 weeks of being in the shop....I had enough!!

I know he will fix the problems...I just don't know if I want to let her out of my hands again!

I went to the Houston RX-7 club meet on Tuesday and had a blast. Met many different folks there and every generation of RX-7 and 8 was represented there.

Funny thing is, everyone kept commenting on the paint how beautiful and shiny it was and that the car was the cleanest 1st gen they had seen. The ole' first gen was a hit at the meet.

Problem is everyone wanted to know WHO painted my car, how much did it cost, and if he could do their paint job.... I told them I could not recommend this dude... They did not even seem to mind if it took a year for their paint!!! I did mind that it took a year!!

Overall it was a nice drive... about 135 miles round trip. Nice, cool, night drive back home...
