factory stereo question
I have an '84 SE RX-7 and was wondering whether or not it would be possible to hook up an Ipod to work through the stock stereo/amp?
you would need an audio input and i don't believe there is an aftermarket adapter available for an 80's Clarios stereo. what you can do is buy an FM transmitter and hook that into your ipod and have the ipod broadcast to your stereo.

have a look in the FC section, there is a way to use the tape input to run the ipod/pad/phone. this of course means you can't listen to tapes anymore, so no more slippery when wet, or green or english beat for you!
Using this method will limit your sound quality to that of the tape deck. Best bet is the FM transmitter......you're still limited to the quality of FM; but its better than the tape deck.
i no longer have the stock stereo but the FM transmitter should work fine, which is what i've been using in mine for over 2 years now. just make sure its one that you have to wire into it (they have better sound transfer). and make sure that you have a switch hooked to it. i deleted all emissions and even cruise control but i kept the switch and that's what i'm using for the fm transmitter switch. to keep a stock'ish look inside.
the reason you need a switch is because the fm transmitter will make it impossible to listen to regular radio when its on due to static.
