Exhaust work on my 1983 GSL

Well the last time I drove my RX-7, it was really struggling with no power at all so I ordered a new catalytic converter and precat. I got both mangaflow converters at autopartswarehouse.com. They showed up today and after a bit of fiddling I managed to extract my old exhaust from the manifold to the muffler (pictured below). I had to get gaskets and hardware from the local Napa store since they weren't included. After some more fiddling I got both cats back in and she should be good to go!

Good question. When I bought the car a month ago it was leaking from that section so the local muffler shop replaced the ruined pipe with the shiny bit you see in the photo. Those straight pipes were replaced with the magnaflow front catalytic converter

Looks like 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" pipe - way too small for what should be there. I bet that pipe GLOWED when you got hot
