Sorry it took me so long to find these, I kind of forgot.

Anyways, I haven't been able to find the stash of pics of the Spec Racer in zebra stripe paint, but that was around 1999-2000ish/somewhere around there, you probably raced against him when the car was yellow and white.

Since I have a ton of pics, I'll just start from the beginning...

He started out Autocrossing in college, with his Dodge Colts (a coupe, a brown beater Sedan (I forgot to scan this one), and a turbo hatchback)

He also had an AMX, which was originally owned by my grandfather. He sold the car outside the family, and now my uncle has it, it has since been restored.

The first real SCCA car was the '72 240Z which he started racing in 1984...

He later tore the whole car down and re-did EVERYTHING after he he spun it into a tire wall (I can't remember if someone helped him into that wall, or if there was oil on the track) This car won a LOT of races

... Continued

For years he also raced endurance races with friends in a '88 Honda CRX Si called "Patches". The car earned that name when it ended up backing into a wall at 90mph due to oil on the track. They took the back end of a '91 Si and replaced half of the car, Keep in mind this was in ~1993, and the car was just recently retired in 2006. You'd never know what happened to it by looking at the car or it's entire track record of wins.

After he sold the 240z (last I heard, it was parked out behind a barn after it's new owner wrecked it ) He bought a Scirocco 16V and raced in Showroom stock. His biggest competitors were the Turbo Peugeots Which would outrun him on the straits, but would get dominated by him on the more technical parts of the track (I have a video of this, it's really amazing, but I don't know how to convert Hi-8 tape to digital) I have fond memories of this car from after it was retired, He used to drive me to school in it . I think I was the only kid getting a ride to school in a car with a full roll cage. And to this day, people that went to elementary school with me STILL remember this car.

That's me back then, lol.

And now we get to the Spec Racer...

Which I was very exited about...

At Daytona...

If I can find any of the pics of the car in zebra paint, I'll post them... It's just a matter of finding them.

Great pictures guys!

My Brother and I used to have a RX3 rally car in the 90's, brings back some memories...

Is their anything special about the rims on the car in the picture below?

I have a set of them out in the shed in 15inch and they have directional/rotation markings on the side of the actual rim...mine are all white and have a solid flat plastic cover that goes over the center to cover the studs.

I've never seen another set of them over here and was wondering what they were off, if they were any good, lightweight etc etc????

Cam...

Ah, the old 240's were pretty cars. The later Z-cars never did recapture the purposefulness of shape, until the 300's, IMO.

Looking at the back end of the 240, you can see that the new 370 is trying very hard to echo the rear decking and side window lines - - just as the 350z echoed the 300zx's rear decking sculpt.
