Does your S model have a dead pedal?

Because mine didn't. Then I looked through my pile of 'junks' (thank wacky for that term) and found one. I must have aquired it at some point over the years.

Who here has an S model and does it have a dead pedal? Also, do all chassis have the necessary studs or threaded holes to make installation as easy as cake?

Mods, please move this to the technical section if it's too techincal for here. Thanks.

my 85 S does. all chassis are able to be equipped with any option available for a 7 of the particular series. for example, the S3 S cars are prewired for any option up to a GSL-SE trim level, minus engine and ecu wiring. i added power mirrors and a hatch light to my S. the harnesses were there. i just added the hard parts.

j_tso 12-23-07 01:46 AM

Nope. All it had were 2 bolts where it should be.

FBsliderseven 12-23-07 02:51 AM

hmm i dont remember if my old s had one.
probably didnt.

My '79 SA S model does not have one. Just 2 bolts where you could bolt one on.

My 80 SA GS didn't have one when I bought it used in 83. I didn't event know you could have one until I saw one on a junker. I pulled it and saw the two holes in the left kick panel and it bolted right in. One of the best upgrades I ever did.

It must have been an option when you ordered the cars. Probably dealer supplied. You know, you check the box, they charge you $200.00, and then just bolt it in when it comes off the truck. Lets the dealer make some high margin bucks I would guess.

Your GS should have had one from the factory. My 79 GS had one right out of the box,and I believe all GS models did as well. I don't see why they would stop this in 80,as they were adding things to the car that year anyway.

t_g_farrell 12-23-07 10:44 AM

No clue, but it wasn't there and didn't seem to ever have been installed. No marks on the card board kick panel just the 2 holes. Maybe the first owner didn't like it or was real tall and removed it. I'm 6'1" and I still like having it there.

82transam 12-23-07 10:49 AM

My 83 S didn't have one, just the two bolts like the others said, added it off my parts car years ago. Also didn't have a power hatch release, hatch light, or glove box light, added those as well.
Funny thing about the glove box light on the S models is that the switch, and bulb recepticle are there, all you need to do is add the bulb! Funny marketing decision if you ask me....

mikewoodkozar 12-23-07 12:44 PM

I would go nuts without the dead pedal

This is news to me.

I ran out and checked my car, there is a spot for a bulb, but I didn't see switch. All I see is a ground wire and a black/blue stripe wire with a male connector. Is it like the door light switch/little nubbin that gets pressed?

mikewoodkozar 12-23-07 01:42 PM

lol, little nubbin

That's wierd. My 80 SA S model has one. I don't know if it came from the factory that way or not. I didn't know any came from the factory without it.

when i got my GS the dead pedal was under this thick floor mat the two bolts where installed but the pedal wasnt when i got it i pulled up the floor mats picked it up said hey whats this. must go here installed it and went along my way. i couldnt drive with the mats in they were that really thick rubber things. oh well though right

Jeff20B 12-23-07 04:16 PM

Wow this turned out to be a popular topic. Now I know the dead pedal will simply bolt right in. Thanks.
