So, who's planning on attending this year? I went last year for the first time, and plan to attend every year from now on. The wife and I had a hell of a good time!
The roads in North Carolina and Tenesee are just unbelievable. I think that they never learned the art of creating a straight and level road, and God bless them for it. In Michigan, every single road is laid out straight as a razor, and good luck finding any elevation changes.
And, while you might think that the cops would harass people tearing it up on these kinds of roads, I think that they've realized the money they get from the tourism. The only guys that got hassled (to my knowledg) were those that passed slow cars on the double yellow. Otherwise, they pretty much just sit there and spectate.
I highly recommend this event!

And here's a video from last year. Not a lot of excitement, but will give you an idea of the roads we get to play on. In the evening, and anytime after dark, there is almost no traffic (but its hard to shoot video after dark).

Your driving a lot more then I did, but in a GSL-SE I spent about $150-200 in gas and shared a cabin with a few friends so that was $100 and food on the trip was in the range of $100 I would guess. I think its safe to say around $400 if your 7 gets decent gas millage.
But the food/lodging info. that you posted was helpful. Looks like I'm going to start ordering parts and finally take my wheels to be repaired.

I'd guess that the wife and I went through about a grand. But we weren't pinching pennies either. Plus we stayed a couple extra days, rented a car for her, and a bunch of other odds and ends. I remember that rental prices were very user friendly though, like 350 for a hot tub cabin for like 5 days. I don't regret one penny of it, it was well worth that and then some.
I think that this year we're going to bring the boys with us (10, 11, 16). Even the wife is looking forward to getting back down there.

I was more referring to the actual costs once at DGRR. How much people spend on food, drinks, rooms, etc. My FB averaged 18.5mpg last summer, with one trip to the UP of Michigan and back. Everyone's fuel costs are going to be different because of different states of tune.

It was pretty funny but my GSLSE and my buddys had 8s and a single turbo FD. On the trip down I was killing them in the gas millage.
i went there in 2007 and even though i guess i missed the major festivities, i still had a blast. i drove the 8 up and down a few times, all while taking in the sites along the way. i'm dying to go back. only thing is i'd love to have an Rx-7 the next time though.
I'm bustin my *** to get ready for it
its my high school graduation present basically =]
i'm painting the 7 monday, should start restoring the wheels next week, fix a small hole underneath next, then new clutch going in, new bushings being put in, new rear brake setup, reset the timing and wiring, redoing the direct fire ignition on the bp12a, then finishing the interior =]
I can't wait

I'm kind of on the fence right now. I'd sure like to go, I know I'd have a great time just don't know if I have the time right then. Will have to see what the situation is at that time.
Dunno if you remember or not but I met you last year, they parked us next to eachother by the dumpster lol.

Hope I get to go again this year, last year was a blast. I ended up driving there from Texas and to New York with NeatocheetoFB, TitaniumTII, and Shar from San Francisco. Even won a chrome plated rotor/housing display on the raffle Saturday night. One of the best road trips I'v been on and I would encourage everyone to attend.

Hey Duffman! I do remember, sort of. I met so many people that weekend. lol.
Yeah, they weren't showing our fbs much respect parking us next to the dumpsters like that.
Orion and I hung out for about 15 minutes of the car show, then decided we'd rather be driving than sitting by the trash. Had a nice cruise on the Dragon with next to no traffic.

We partied naked EVERY night when we were down there.
Midnight nude cruises, partner swapping, the works....
Which of course is why I'm taking the kids this year.
haha well I wasnt down there when it happened, I went upstairs 5 minutes before. But it seemed to traumatize everyone from the las vegas crew.
I imagine my car is pretty reliable right now, but I cant imagine driving for like 2 days to get out there, I felt like an old man after 4 hours in my car on the way to 7stock. My legs would be broken

Outstanding! Keep an eye out for me and give me a wave so we can meet up (I think my car is a bit more recognizable with the Respeed banner on the windshield).
I'll be staying at the Watershed Cabins, but will of course be around Nantahala with everyone else most of the time.
