This can be fixed. Take a knife or razor blade and expose the wires in the sensor where they broke. Solder and heatshrink the wires back. I then use some non-metallic expoxy to put back on the connection. These wires get hot and corrode really easy. It's also a bad design because they bend at that point.
Make sure to use the aluminum crush washer when reinstalling.

MW, I have one here off my '85 in good working condition. I think it's the same but not 100% (can anyone verify?). Look at the pictures and PM me if interested.

Oh and just so you know, it only sends the temp to your choke-**** control, so the choke turns off once the engine warms up. The temp gauge in your dash is signaled from this temp sender on the driver's side of rear iron.
