Hey guys check this out. I looked at this auction and here is the deal. This car is a 5/78 car about 9200 as a production number. It is fairly low miles and nearly original. What mods have been made are very tasteful. Also the orig parts come with the car.
Owner stated that they also have nearly all the documentation for the car really big plus.
Oh that rare option..... The stripe kit is actually a dealer optioned stripe kit that has a mazda part number.... I have only see one other on a car. I am trying to get some really good pics of it. Someone who is looking for one as a collectible this would be a nice fit.
IMHO and FWIW....

Ya dealer stripe kit looks pretty clean - does some gawd-awful things to the lines of the car, but certainly correct-in-period and in great shape. Almost a bargain compared to the $8K-and-climbing 6K mi silver 80 SA on ebay right now. Fellow forum member Banzai quiried the owner on the reserve: $15K!
Yoiks! Guess that's the price of Almost New these days...

the tach measures volts when the key is in the on position and the engine is not running. specific to 79-80's.
i think the original tires are bridgestone's steel belted 70's..so the 300's are probably a replacement tire.
i dig the stripe kit! i'd love to have that car!

Considering 20,000-30,000 miles was exceptional life for tires back in the day, those are almost certainly replacements, but vintage ones. They look to have very few miles on them.

This car actually has the better of the two stripe kits available. I like it just because its different and so 70s. Tasteful dealer options had yet to be realized. The only thing missing is the optional fake wire wheel covers for the complete look!

BTW I do have pics of the other stripe kit on a car
I saw this car on ebay before here, & wondered "I wonder if any of the 7club guys have seen this?" just when I got to the questions, Rotarydude had already informed them it was a 5/78 car, etc etc, & I smiled =)

Ran across this photo on a website dedicated to "awkward family photos...."
Really exemplifies my point about "tastefulness" in the 80's.

Looking at the bid history for the auction, it's clear that $6000 was the reserve amount. Last bid jumped from $3700 to $6000.
