Check this FB out - Track Car or Daily Driver?

For those finding it boring and hard getting through traffic on your way to another boring day at work - I suggest purchasing this hummer for a daily driver.

Check out the 4 Corvette LS-1 Ignition Modules.

[Disclaimer: I have no stake in this sale, but want to add that I did meet this seller through a separate ebay transaction and believe him to be a good guy (and ligitimate rocket scientist.)]

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mazda...ht_2888wt_1331

Up For Auction is a 1982 1st Gen RX-7, but it is more like a 1985 GSL-SE.
It is one of my two “Daily Drivers”.
This is a car for someone who wants a Highly Modified RX-7, but does not want to go through the pain, suffering, frustration, working out the “Bugs” and the time and expense of doing it your self.

It really wasn’t that bad, because doing that was my hobby. Anyone who has built a car before can understand that.
I bought my first New RX-7 in 1981, and I retired it in the late 90’s. This project really started back in 9/8/1989 – but didn’t really get started seriously until the early 90’s.

I have a detailed Spread Sheet of EVERYTHING Done on this project including dates, prices, part numbers, vendors, diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams descriptions and receipts (in a separate binder)

The Reason I am Selling It…..
My Other Car is a Highly Modified 1972 Porsche 914 and I’m selling it also.
Cars have been my primary hobby for over 30 years. I never thought I would sell either one of my cars. I built them both assuming I would Keep Them Forever. But……
My hobbies have changed and I would rather drive a Toyota sedan with an automatic transmission on my 52 mile commute through LA Traffic.

To start with, The Chassis is an 82 GS RX-7. That was where the Project Started.
The Body is a Mariah Wide Body Fiberglass Kit From Design Energy. (The Rear Wing is actually a Modified Piece From a 2nd Gen Wide Body Kit)
The Front Struts, Transmission, Rear Axle and entire Breaking System, Including The Power Booster and MC are GSL-SE Parts.
The Complete Interior including the Dash is Grey GSL-SE
It had a Full Roll Cage in it, but I cut the Front Part Only out, because I kept Hitting my head on it in my Daily Driver Application. I Kept the Rear part in Because it significantly stiffens up the chassis – and it Looks Cool…

The Steering is a Re-Speed Rack & Pinion Kit, that now is OUTSTANDING.
As The Kit Comes, the geometry is not Quite Right. I am lucky enough to know Dave Lemon from Mazdatrix – who was able to get it right.
The Steering in my RX-7 is now every bit as good as the Steering in my Porsche. No Free Play at All. Very Tight and Precise – with a Quicker Ratio.

The Front Wheels: 16” X 8” HRE with fairly new 225 40 16 Tires
The Rear Wheels: 16” X 9” HRE with fairly new 245 45 16 Tires
Yes, the Rear Wheel Wells Were Modified During The Body Kit Installation to allow that wheel size to fit.

The Paint is “Guards Red”, a Porsche Paint (Their 911’s) and it’s in pretty good condition considering it’s 15 years old.
It’s Always been Garaged and it was not ever driven until 8/30/2000, when I registered it for the first time.
The Grey Paint on the Bottom Third is approximately 3 years old, when I changed the rear wing to what it is now.

This Project Started with 85K Miles on the Speedo.
At That Time Everything was NEW. I did not use used parts.
The Transmission had a VERY Complete Re-build.

On 6-10-08 the car completed through a 5 month duration of a Very Complete Refurbishing.
The Speedometer Read 193,977 miles at that time.
The Speedo now says 210, 654 miles. 17K Miles on it.
A Complete List of work done is in the file, but the Biggies Are:

NEW Engine Installed: Street Ported 6 Port 13B based on the 85 SE Engine. EVERY Part in that engine was purchased from Mazda NEW (even the E-Shaft), except for the Iron Housings, which were in very good condition.

Racing Beat Long Primary Exhaust System. I replaced the Header Section at this time. It was Jet Hot Ceramic Coated (Yes – It does keep the engine compartment much cooler)
There is an Oxygen Sensor Bung in Both Pipes.

New Oil Metering Pump, with the “Rotary Aviation” Modification that allows you to have a Separate Oil Supply from a separate reservoir.
I use Idemizu Syntheyic (Designed for Rotary Engines) In the Engine and Idemizu Synthetic 2 Stroke Oil for injecting In to the Engine with the Metering Pump.

Tokiko Illumina Adjustable Shocks in Front.

Completely NEW F.I. System.
Steel Braided Fuel Line with AN Fittings.
Dual Fuel Pump Setup. (Yes, A Redundant Pump)
Haltech E8 FI/Ign Computer
TWM Throttle Body (Dual 50mm TB’s) (Weber IDA Style)
Weber IDA Intake Manifold with additional Vacuum Ports.
All 6 Ports Always Flow.
Direct Fire Ignition (Of Course) With 4 Corvette LS-1 Ignition Modules.
All New Sensors and New Wiring Harness Of Course.
2nd Gen Crank Angle Sensor.

Front And rear Brake Rotors and Pads.
Front Wheel Bearings.
Drive Shaft
Re-Speed Rack& Pinion Steering Kit.
NEW Oversized Aluminum Radiator.
New Ignition Key Lock.
New Oil Cooler And Steel Braided Lines.

Other Things worth Mentioning:
Adjustable Front Coilovers and Eibach Springs.
Camber / Caster Plates.
Aftermarket Front / Rear Sway Bars.
Strut Tower Brace.
Power Windows, Power Door Locks and Alarm System with ¼ mile Pager Syatem.
Relocated Optima Battery in Passanger Storage Compartment with Isolation Switch.
91 2nd Gen Alternator (90A) and Starter.

Instrumentation:
Permanently Installed “Innovate Motorsports” Real Time Air/Fuel Ratio Gage on Dash.
A-Pillar Autometer Ultralite Gauges:
Fuel Pss, Water Temp, Oil Temp, Oil Pss.

Plenty Of Switches on front panel:
One for Garage Door Opener
Car Electrical ON
E8 ON
Leading Ignition
Trailing Ignition (For Diagnostics use just leading or just trailing)
FP1 (ON OFF or E8 Computer Control)
FP2 (ON OFF or E8 Computer Control)
AC On
MAP1 / MAP2
Aux
Fan

As I Said, this car is a daily driver. It needs a new Carpet and Seats before it is completely Finished.
I planned on Sparco Torinos. They Fit and are great seats.
It is Registered, Insured and has Arizona Plates.
This car will not pass a smog test, so it is sold As-Is as a Track car.

Everyones Smog Situation is Different – it may not be a problem for you.

Add Up what it would cost you to put a car like this together.
The Engine – a VERY Strong Running Engine (Over 200 RWHP), The F.I. System and the Steering add up to more than the Starting Price Of this Auction.
Actually, in the last 2 years I have put over $20K in to this car.

It’s a BLAST To Drive!!

if it wern't for the crazy *** rear spoiler (yes, i know it's old school....still not my cup of tea) that's a well done car. If I had the money, I'd buy it and pay to have the spoiler removed, the holes welded up, and the whole car re-painted in just red.

New hood, better color, no wing, better offset wheels, and revised interior and I would drive the hell out of it. I think its worth 10k.

Basically, if it looked like this:

I would love it.

Short translation is: "Smog's due, my hookup in Arizona died/got mad at me/went out of business, my knee can't put up with that damned race clutch in LA traffic no more, and the old lady's on my *** to clear her a spot in the garage."

Looks like very good work, but it's also a cop magnet for anyone trying to commute in it. Probably a serviceable track car if the roll cage got repaired.
