Central Processing unit?

I believe I chased my blinker problem to the central processing unit. I Cant seem to find it in my haynes manual. I believe somewhere on the left side behind the dash, thought it was behind the gauge bezel but it wasnt. any ideas??

What year is the car? For 84/85, the CPU is located next to the hood release (juyst above the speaker). I think it is also there for most all other years too.

Check fuses. Check connections on back of cluster. Check position on dimmer.

You weren't messing around under the shifter at all, were you? There are two plugs that fit together under there, but are for the auto shifter indicator. Many people see them unplugged and say "Hey, someone left these wires disconnected. Maybe this is the reason for xxxx problem?" When they plug them together, it creates a short and blows the dimmer almost every time. When the dimmer dies, the lights will either be fulll brightness all the time or they won't work at all. I have seen the dimmer fail both ways.
