Can't quit the first gens?
I was wondering if anyone has sold a first gen only to want another shortly afterwards? I recently sold an 80 SA to another foum member, great car, I loved it, just needed to downsize because I have 2 other FCs, and have alot of money in them. Last week I bought a 85 from a friend that I sold to him a year and a half ago, car had 70,000 more miles on it and in worse cosmetic conditionthan the SA. Granted it is still a blast and runs good, but it was totally pointless to sell a great car just to but another. I bought my 80 to make up for my 85 and now the 85 to make up for the 80. I guess in the end you just cant beat a first gen, I've learned my lesson, good times are back!

Me too. I thought that I wanted to try something else in the car world for a while. I traded my 85 GS for a 92 Integra GSR. It was a fun car, but I ended up selling it as I was graduating college, moving, and getting married all in the same summer. I didn't want a second car to worry about. Needless to say, less than a year later I am fixing up another 1st gen.

Everytime I try to bring myself to get rid of the 7 and move on to a more... cost effective car... everytime I get seperation anxiety and I can't believe I thought about trying to let her go. So for now this is my first and permenent addition to my family.

My first love was my '79 RX-7 build date(3/78) Then I bought an 89GTU, then a 83GSL, next an 85GSL, then an 87 SE, on top of all that a '93FD, then an '86GXL, now I just acquired two weeks ago an '84GSL-SE...haha! I have so freaking many RX-7's at home it looks like a junk yard!!!
Then I sold them all and kept the '84GSL-SE and the '79GS. How could I let them go? Out of all of the RX-7's the First Gens are the ones I have loved the most even over the FD. To me the FD is an over rated Money Pit. I would know I owned one for over a year! Then I just got tired of the FD's owners mentality. SA/FB owners are way more down to earth where I live! Not in the sky with my head disconnected from reality!
SA/FB FTW!!!

I think its just the shear entertainment of driving these cars, I just have a blast. I never see 1st gens around so its nice to have a truly unique car. I also have never had any reliability problems yet, just maintenence and wear stuff. They can be cheap to own if you dont mod too much, besides the gas of course, damn secondaries, why must they be so fun I as well love the 1st gen side of things, its great over here, a small part of why I wanted another.

I'm like a vulture, whenever a buddy needs a new car, I convince them to try the rotarys. Knowing once the go 7 they'll never go back. I've gotten two of my friends to purchase teh 7, one was a silver 85, and another was a white 89! =) Then we drive around like a gang of 7 users. scaring the old people, and wowing the young ones.

^^ my girlfriend LOVES LOVES LOVES SAs, she knows the difference between SA and FB. she told me if i sold my SA shed kill me. she wants me to build her an SA some day.
ive told her all my future plans for project cars. she doesnt mind as long as it doesnt harm our every day life. i already have it worked out that the basement is mine and i can have a shop to my specs. now...i just need to graduate college and get the money to fund these NEEDS!!!
so MFing true. MOST, not all, but MOST FD owners are ********. they think they drive some sort of a super car or something. i hate that. thats why even after i buy an FD ill be sticking with my 1st gen crowd.
