bought my first new car...kinda
well, i bought it for my wife. it arrived to us with only one mile showing on the odometer. its a 2010 Sienna and though it may not belong here, i wanted to share with you guys since i spend the majority of my time here. it really drives nice for what it is and the color is just great! it hauls our kids more than adequately, and has a lot of interior room. we're pleased with the purchase overall, save for the monthly payments. in the long run it'll be worth it though and i can justify having it since i still have my RX-7's, and the RX-8 to stretch me out of that soccer dad status. and if i do happen to be a soccer dad so to speak, i'll be rolling up in a rotary!. here are the pics:

My mom had an 06 Sienna. She loved it. Traded it for the Highlander she has now. She's thinking about trading down to a Rav 4. Never had any problems and has loved both of them. I own 5) 07 Tacomas and an 03 Tundra for our business. I've owned 12 other Toyota trucks in the last 25 years. All bought new and traded in at around 100k+. I have replaced 2 clutches on the 89s and had an issue with the clutch pedal brakets in 05. Other than batteries, tires and a belt or two I never had to fix anything. Change the oil regularly and change the air filters when I get around to it.
We chose the Honda van over the Toyota in 06. AC went 5k after warranty was over and paint pealed off the hood. The dealer fixed the paint for free (they are one of our accounts) but AC compressor cost $2000. It is a great driving van, but the money I saved over the Toyota got spent on the AC. Should have gone with the Sienna. How cool is that remote back door? Do your kids like to open and close it just for fun?

a CX-9 would not have sufficed in this case. we drove one and really liked it but needed more room because of our kids and the plethora of goodies that go along with them. i never wanted a minivan but desperate times call for desperate measures i guess.

the traverse gets better gas mileage, seats 8, a better warranty, and has the most cargo space in its class. they start at 29,000, which is only 2000 more than your van, but i could have got you a gm employee discount for a set of floor mats lol.

everyone sure is swinging at Toyota with these recalls ... talk about overblowing a design or manufacturing flaw that every manufacturer deals with periodically.
At least it may give Ford/GM/Chys some temporary market share boost to level the playing field a bit .

we havent had one issues with the Sienna and its hovering around 5000 miles. its oil change is due next week. we are averaging about 21mpg combined. no acceleration issues other than my heavy right foot. its got a 266hp V6 which really moves the sucker.

Hi Dave! Long time no talk. Just catching up on the forum. Your Sienna pics look good. I really like that instrument panel. It's a very good family vehicle. Nice to have those rockets for Dad's time out.
Hope all is well.
