Question 85 RX7 GSL - Will not Start - Please Help

I have an 85 Mazda RX7 GSL , 12A automatic transmission & it has not been started for 2 years -- it was running great when last started...I put a new battery in & all that will come on when I try to start it is the front headlights (it takes a while for the headlight pop ups to go down for they don't go down initially when I turn the lights off) -- there is no starter clicking noise & no instrument panel lights & the turn signals do not work. I've checked the engine fuse 20 amp in the fuse box inside the car & it looks fine. I was looking for the main fuse box on the drivers side (I saw a few themreads about this) to the right of the battery & all I see are the fuseable links & not the main fuse box. Does the 85 RX7,not have a main fuse box (70 or 100 amp) under the hood ? I was womdering also if I might have a bad starter or a ground that is not right -- I was having some starter issues when I used it last. Any help with this is greatly appreciated. I live in Jacksonville FL & am not aware of any RX7 mechanics, so I thought I would reach out to fellow owners for assistance. Thank you..

Welcome to the site, lots of good people here to help. Didja mistakenly hook battery cables backwards initially, even momentarily? There is no underhood fuse box. There are three fuselinks you've located already, they can be tested for continuity using a test light, voltmeter. Possible one is burnt. If this is case,it's easier to install a jcase 2nd gen fuse in place of link, plugs right in. Main=60 amp, other two =30 amp fuses. If all links test good, use test light on underdash fusebox on all fuses to determine if have current there and all fuses good. Look at and follow both battery cable to their destinations,be certain connections are clean and tight. Is the battery known good, new, been tested? Put eyes on all underhood wiring you can see, rodents can sometimes make a home in the car and meals out of wiring. Post back with findings and we'll give you further direction.

I will see if I can test for continuity this weekend. The battery is brand new, however, I will have it tested. The car has been garaged & there are no rodents I am aware of -- thanks for your suggestions & I will let you know what I find out.

I had to periodically continue to turn the key until several times until the starter would work.
