84 GSL-SE Fuel Tank and Siphon Screen

1984 Mazda Rx7 GSL-SE.

When I bought it, it would crank but wouldn't run. It seemed to be fuel starved.

I worked through the troubleshooting, and now I know why - clogged fuel components.

The tank was full of detritus. I'm having it purged and boiled out, and replacing the filter, pump, and hoses.

The siphon screen is ruined. Anyone have any recommendations on replacement materiala for the acreen film?

Also, any thoughts on having a new lining swirled into the tank?

Having it relined in my book is a must. I had a radiator shop clean one with MEK and reseal it with a red liner. They acutely cut a L shape cut, folded it back, cleaned and lined. They then folded it back and braized it up. Total cost was $350 and took a week. The gas had turned to tar so think, 1/4 inch, a welding rod hardly scraped a little out.

For tank coating, take a good look at Casewell before you throw money at Kreem or POR-15.

Dayyyum! That's one fugly picture. But . . . FWIW it looks like the original zinc plating is still intact.
