I see the original 83-85 12a fuel pumps have been discontinued, will the 79-82 work? If not what have you guys ran?

 

I recently replaced mine in an '83. I ended up with this pump:

I made two small brackets that allowed me to mount in the stock location:


This is a shot of a different pump, but the one above is the one I ended up with:


This pump is also available from amazon, but produced too much pressure and overpowered the floats in the carb. The pump I went with pretty much mounted just like this one (I was able to use the same mounting brackets.

I did this several months ago, and haven't had any (fuel) issues since then - but, to be fair, I also have not driven it very much at all since replacing it.

The 79-82 fuel pump works. The outlet is a little different but it mounts in the stock location.

I also have the Mr. Gasket pump that looks just like the one posted above on one of my cars and it has worked fine for the last few months.
