15A Meter Back Fuse Blowing

1985, Rx7, GSL.

Been doing some work; either by my hand or by coincidence the 15A hazard / flasher fuse now blows evertime I turn the key to auxiliary.

I've removed the cluster switch, the combination switch, the boyh tail light assemblies, the instrument cluster/panel, disconnected the horns at each horn.

The fuse keeps blowing.

Where do I start?

The only thing on the circuit I have not physically removed are both front turn signal / hazard light assemblies.

The short may not be in one of the assemblies, but in the wiring leading to the assembly a wire could be pinched, grounding it or the insulation could be ruined or chewed through on two B+ wires. So, if you remove the assembly, the short could still be present in the wiring.

The leg up you have is that ot happens with switched power, not just B+ power. This eliminates the lighting circuit which needs only battery power. You will want to concentrate on the switched power circuit. You will need an FSM with wiring diagram to trace the switched power circuit that is fed by the 15A meter back fuse. If you do not have a factory service manual with wiring diagram let me know and I'll post a picture of the circuit for you from my FSM.

Thank you for the reply.

Yes, I have download the FSM and 85 electrical wiring book off FOX.

I've been going through it; but I'm no expert.

Any chance you can help me identify specifically which are the "switched power" circuits/wires I should focus my attention on?

Thanks!

Try disconnecting the battery and check resistance to ground on each wire in that circuit that supplies switched power.
