What do you think someone could do with $500 to modify the RX with?

Specifically, what could I do next after I get all of my parts in my sig up and running? I am thinking of DLIDFIS or 2GCDFIS (havent reasearched much, can ya tell?) and -SE rear end.

springs/shocks. strut bars. RB anti sway bars.

 

PerfectCircles list, in that order, then the GSL diff, unless you plan on swapping the front struts too. Somewhere in the middle, I'd add new poly bushing too. Do the springs/struts/shocks at the same time, not 1/2 and 1/2.

I spent somewhere around 1100 for Eibach Pros/Illuminas, ST sway bars, ball joints, tie rods, polys, 4 calipers/discs/pads, parts only, had the GSL diff on hand.

 

For $500, I'd do a poly kit and replace all steering components & ball joints. Nice thing about doing the poly kit is as you do the job along with steering components, you can usually see ALL sorts of things you need to do next or while you are doing this since you'll be pulling the entire suspension both up front and in back. Some say to do shocks / springs at the same time but it isn't necessary... as it isn't bad at all to take those off again later. The hyperflex kit will run you around $160 and all new steering components / ball joints is around $300.

 

I did 2GCDFIS for like... $50. Most junkyards have at least one second gen with a coil in it you can take.

RB headers can be bought for $150 used, borla muffler is not that expensive, and K&N is about $40

I would go with steering componets like stated above if haven't already and if you need it. If not springs/shocks, strut bar.

I want to get poly bushings, but only if I cant find any with graphite. I heard you need to lube the polys every 6 months and they wont last as long/plus squeak

 

$500 will go a long way towards a good Racing Beat exhaust system.

 

The kit I got from Respeed were all black except for the front suspension arm bushings... isn't all black graphite impregnated?

 

Another vote for suspension. Best $400 I ever spent on the car.

 

You've already got the go fast parts for the intake and exhaust and the stop fast parst for the brakes. Now you need the handle fast parts for the suspension.

Pay attention to what trochiod and perfect_circle have already said. +1 on poly bushings, spring, shocks, and struts plus steering components as needed.

Make it tight it really makes a huge difference.

A really good set of tires? Amazing what a difference tires makes especially to handling.

 

If a 2nd gen intake manifold fits that might be a nice cheap upgrade.

 

Upgrade the stock breaks...Thats what i did....Stainless Steel Lines/Slotted Rotors/Hawk Pads/New Drums & Shoes/....


OMg what a DIFFERENCE! i feel so much more confident driving the Fb now lol!

what are you impressions after installing the slotted rotors? onlyonthurs??

 

On a street car I would forget about Hawk pads, especially blues. Go with Porterfield R4S or Panther XPs.

 

Amazing to say the least.....And i LOVE These hawk pads..and yes this is my daily driver and i will be autox her as well very soon. I love them! But again, i ugraded EVERYTHING...NEw calipers, new Stainless Steel Brake lines , slotted rotors and Hawk HPS pads. i have NEVER felt the car this GREAT when it comes to its braking performance. i HIGHLY recommend these slotted rotors (Power SLots) and the other items i did buy for the FB.

 

Front RB swaybar, springs, and illuminas. I admit that will probably take you beyond 500, but wait one more paycheck and get it done together. The swaybar makes the biggest difference, but not sure if you would see that on original suspension or not. Most likely, I think you would. No body roll still means no body roll even with soft springs and shocks...
