I bought a spare stereo panel cover, and plan to remove the dial control part and clock area, the part with the 3 holes, these are the perfect size for 2 1/16" gauges. then mold it into another panel, thus I will have space for 4 gauges and a single DIN for the CD Player, nice eh?
Sand, glue, bondo, and some fresh paint (not sure which color)
Let me know how this works out for you. I might try it myself....what guages are you putting in yours? I'm thinking about what four I should put in mine. I'd like to put air/fuel, but I'd have to get a bushing welded into my header for the sensor. I'll prolly do volt, oil press, water temp, and fuel press (whenever I upgrade my fuel system). Any ideas?

I plan to put my Fuel pressure where my A/F is (stock clock location)
and then the other 3 will be, Water temp, Oil Temp, and Oil Pressure.
then I will have 2 other gauges, that I'm working on mounting in the stock gauge cluster area, which will be my A/F and Boost gauge.

I'm going to start hacking on the thing this weekend so I'll see what I come up with.

A question: if I'm happy with the sound quality I get through my stock FM receiver (83 GSL), would that mean I could probably live with an RF CD player/changer? Or does the 83 not have this DIN problem everyone is talking about?

Also, I phoned up a guy at Future Shop re: the JVC CH-X1100RF. He said they were kinda tricky to install (which I found hard to believe). Anyone installed one?

Why would I start a new topic? So we can rehash this all over again? Besides, that's what search is for...

the moderator will send it to the audio forum nowadays anyway. IMO you need to post it there for more help.

Why replace that beautiful center console... it's one of the cars most "cool" features. When someone gets in my car at night and the amber is bright and it's dark dark outside, they always say "wow, your car looks like a space ship".

I love it... sometimes when I am driving down the road, I kinda squint my eyes to make the lights bigger (I hope you know what I mean by that) and just let that "FD-Look" hit my eye, and for a split second, I am driving an FD, but then I either hear my choke **** go back in, or the damn car dies because of carb adjustments... hehe....
