(OTHER) Heater box removal
OK...I've done enough searching. All I could find were vague references to removing the heater box, and I can't get it out. I have the dash out, I have the two nuts holding the heater box at the top removed, and I have the heater hoses removed from the engine bay side. And still, it won't come out! I found one thread that referenced a bolt or nut in behind the heater box. If there's one there, I can't find it. Can someone tell me EXACTLY how to get this thing out?? Do I have to remove the A/C box next to it? If so, how do I do that?
Thanks,
Rich

Just looked at the box right now, and there seems that there's only 5 things holding the hole thing, 2 screws that go ontop, the 2 hoses, and the other screw that holds the pipes holder. After that with a bit of wobbling it should come right out . But where does it seem to be stuck at anyways?

It's an '85 GSL-SE, but I need to do the same thing to the '85 GS.
The "other screw that holds the pipes holder" is the one that I assume is the problem. Where is it, and how do I get to it? I took a screw out of the back, but it seemed to be a screw in a hose clamp for the connection to the heater control valve. But I'm just guessing, since I can't see anything on the back.

if I'm actually correct, the bolt might be from the engine bay area and not the inside of the car. Sitting inside the car, and looking at the box, the bolt should be on left side of the clamp. Taking pictures can also help

Ok...here's the story for anyone that needs to do this. The first picture below shows the nut that I could not find before. In order to get at it, I had to remove the A/C evaporator. I have small hands and I could not get to it without removing the evaporator. So, here's the process:
1) Remove the 2 coolant lines and the 2 A/C lines from under the hood.
2) Disconnect the "bands" than connect the heater fan to the A/C evaporator, and the evaporator to the heater box.
3) Remove the 2 nuts that hold the evaporator in place...one at the top and one at the bottom. I think the one at the bottom was 12mm...I don't remember if the top one was 10mm or 12mm. See the 2nd picture.
4) Disconnect the drain hose from the bottom of the evaporator. This will come off on it's own if you pull on the evaporator enough. The 3rd picture shows where this hose hooks up.
5) Pull the evaporator out.
6) Remove the 2 nuts holding the heater box to the firewall at the top.
7) Remove the nut holding the hose bracket to the firewall (circled in yellow in the first picture).
8) Pull the heater box out, being careful to try to keep the front tilted down in order to prevent coolant spillage on your carpet.
That's it! This assumes that the dash ois removed and all wire and cable connections have already been disconnected.
