9.35@163mph 88mm LS9 M6 FD

I've been driving this car for the past 2 years doing 1/2 mile racing. My buddy Mike built it and I've been helping with the wrenching on it for years. Finally he let me buy it as he moved on to an 8 second street car GTR instead.

Later that night I did a 9.35@163mph launching on zero boost like in this video. 60' only a 1.59 sec. 128mph in the 1/8th
PT4788 T4 turbo, e85, $100 stock LS1 crank in an LS9 block running nice rods/pistons, MAST LS3 heads, stock LS3 intake/90mm TB
11.5 psi still has around 300rwhp left in it!
Stock T56 Magnum, modified McLeod RXT clutch (I sell these parts) and 3.31 gears out back in a solid 8.8" rear
running a M/T ET Street drag radial 275/50/15 tire and 235/45/18's up front and swaybar hooked up. Tein green road race shocks and 200# springs out back.
Suspension is definitely not optimized for drag. It's mainly a 1/2 mile shootout car where it really shines from the 1/4 mile to the 1/2 mile as it finally hooks up on crappy surfaces at those speeds

128 in the 1/8th says this car is making crazy power and has much lower ETs to put down. Looks great.

That is pretty nuts for only 11.5 psi. It sounded like it stayed hooked up when boost came on as well. 850-ish rwhp range?

On 14psi it made around 1060rwhp/1060rwtq. I'm guessing this is about 900-950rwhp. Gotta love $2.25/gal e85 fuel. I'm not even powershifting the transmission.

1985 rx gsl

Hi Sir,

I have a chevy corvette engine out of a 1996 (LT4) aluminum block, 700r tranny that I want to put into a 1st gen RX-7.

I've replaced the struts and springs to KYB and Racing beat springs.

I'm upgrading to 1986 turbo brakes (4-Piston Caliper).

What else would you suggest I purchase for the continuation of the build?

I have a complete garage at my disposal (Automotive Student).

Thanks for your postings!

Ford GT twin turbo (1400rwhp+ vs. Mazda RX-7 turbo LS9 1200rwhp+ at Shift Sector 2014 1/2 mile shootout event

It's fall... so my work will be a little slower... and I'll get this car back together again with a fresh rebuild on the LS9 that is sitting on the engine stand now for a couple years (snapped the crank!). Would like to run a mid 8 second pass driving to/from the track. Switched over from the older version T56 Magnum to the new T56 Magnum F style (better shifter which sits 3" further back). I'm a Tremec dealer btw. The turbo was freshly rebuilt (was doing 1/2 mile events with no air filter for too many events and chipped the wheel) and injectors cleaned/flowed as well.

in car video of 1/2 mile run.... boost is turned waaay down in the lower gears... I had a 200lb passenger which actually helped a lot with hooking up! This airport runway (Coalinga) is pretty awful with dust/pebbles as it is surrounded by farming fields. I would like to run a Shift Sector event that they have up in Oregon or maybe Colorado with a much better surface.

Mother of God.

That's amazing.

Not to sound odd, but how does the car drive? Able to DD it?

You always do such good work.

You could daily it.... but there really isn't any point as you will pretty much go to jail daily if you romp on it haha. With 3.31 gears and this baby cam it drives actually quite mellow. Finally finding time to work on this thing the next few weeks.

Pretty cool to log on and read up on some of the older great builds on the forum and see how they progressed.

Any updates?
